GREAT strings for downtuning.
I have been using nothing but DR strings for roughly 20 years at this point. I use them on my acoustics, all of my electric guitars, and my bass. Recently I have been writing a lot of music in drop C tuning on my Les Paul, and while I love the sound of it, I wanted to drop everything down to C standard tuning. At that point, the strings I was using just lost a lot of the sparkle and bite that I need, so I decided to give these strings a try. It's definitely a bit of an adjustment since I used to string this guitar up with the DR 9's, but now that I have gotten used to them, I absolutely love them. I love that even at C standard tuning, these strings hold up well with a lot of attack and stay in tune very well. They sound absolutely massive and mean on my Les Paul with EMG 81/85 active pickups. I will say though: if you haven't already done so, expect to have to do a bit of setup work on your guitar if you are dropping down to a lower tuning with strings like these. Intonation will likely be off, and you may need to make some slight truss rod adjustments to make up for the massive change in string tension.

Great little set of strings
I play in Drop C, D standard, and C standard on an Epiphone Les Paul and these strings are perfect for me. I used other strings for many years, but I kept having to adjust my truss rod and bridge to compensate for the lack of tension. This set is excellent and provides great intonation in my tuning range. I tried another brand of strings with this gauge and they sounded ridiculously twangy. I've also had a lot of trouble with locking in the tuning of some other brands and, I have to say, these lock in better than any other brand I've tried. They lock in so well its almost like I have a Floyd Rose -- I can go without playing for a long time in both humid and dry conditions and these are never more than a tiny bit off when I pick up the axe again. When I take care to properly clean my strings and apply string glide after I play, they also last a lot longer than some other brands I've bought. Because of my excellent experience with DR strings, these are my go-to brand and I won't be playing anything else.

Favorite strings on the market
These are my favorite strings because they stay in tune the longest and have less wear when I do wear them down so I can play with them for longer

These a must try for anyone doing drop tuning metal/rock/blues [make sure your nut can fit these though!] DDT-12
[DR DDT-12] Dark sounding and makes Drop B tuning feel full and rich. Great for EMG pickups. I put this on my ESP LTD EC-1000 guitar and I was surprised they fit (just barely) on the nut. Had to fix the bridge to accommodate them for buzzing but after properly setting these strings up I fell in love with the tone. These are worthy of trying out. So far 1 month later, I still have not noticed any significant degradation of tone. They last awhile and can take a 1.5mm pick without issue. These strings also maintain tune and feel good on my hands.

Awesome strings
Wow, these strings are amazing. At first I was a bit concerned because they felt very stiff and tight. But after playing for a little while, they started to loosen up. That's when it got interesting. The strings hold a tune like nobody's business, they don't create a muddy sound and yet they don't create a super bright sound. Somewhere in between which makes it perfect for down-tuned guitars playing either clean or with distortion. I picked up these strings just to give them a chance; I sure am glad I did. I've ordered more of these as I've completely fallen in love with them. Make sure to wipe them down after each play and applying a little Dr.Duck's Axe Wax to them will extend the life of the strings dramatically.

These strings are the best I have found for this tuning
These have been my choice strings for a few years now. I am using them with my current bands, both of which tune to C Standard. These strings are the best I have found for this tuning, and work great on all of my guitars. The string tension is fairly balanced across the set, and they offer a great combo of reliability, longevity, and stability. I find myself tuning less, changing strings less, and enjoying how they sound for longer.

Verrryyyy nice tone.
I play in a heavy metal band called Wait Here, and we write our songs in drop B and I used to use the dunlop 12s, but their low E only went up to a 54 and the low E always sounded really really muddy, then i upgraded to the 13s from the DR DDT line and they were good but a little too tight for the Drop B tuning. These 1260s are PERFECT, and beccause the stuff we are writing uses a lot of palm muting and melodies and what not, these strings are perfect, you can hear every single note, not muddy at all, its hard as concrete, very happy with these strings. If ya wanted to check my band out go here [...]

Brutal tone, but not very rust resistant
I bought these to go on my six-string so that I could tune down to A# with a decent amount of string tension. These strings did allow me to do just that, and the tone was very thick and aggressive, which allowed for some very heavy palm mutes and easy tapping. There is a down side. In comparison to Ernie Ball strings, these rust rather easily. I wipe off my strings after every use and use string lubricant before hand, but the two high strings in particular become extremely dirty and start to develop rust after just one 2 hour jam session. I would recommend these strings highly for their tonal qualities, but they definitely do not have the durability of Ernie Balls.

🏁 Note Finale : 5/5
