How many sections can you get from this ruler? The angle seems quite wide. I would like to have at least 16 sections in my Dresden plate

I cant remember if it is 16 or 20 which make up the circle. If you want at least 16 you should be OK.

I am a beginner and making an 18" square quilt. I want to purchase a template to make a Dresden Plate to fit a 15" square can you help?

Hi Barbara. I haven't used my Dresden template yet, but I see it only goes up to 8". Could you measure a further 7" and then keep the line going up both sides until you reach 15". I'm afraid I'm quite new to this as well. I'll ask around. Are you enjoying quilting?

What is the angle of this template - 22.5 degrees which would produce 16 sections, or 18 degrees which would produce 20?

Sorry didnt realise you wanted to be exact. But yes have measured and it is 18 degrees giving 20 segments. But there is an easier way to calculate. A circle is 360 degrees divided by 20 sements equals 18. So 360 degrees divided by 22.5 equals 16 segments. Hope this sorts out everything. Regards
