The storyline takes you into today's headlines and Karen Kingsbury gives us a story that is a definite masterpiece. We get to catch up with the beloved Baxter family, but the main focus is on the youngest Baxter, Luke. Lawyer and religious freedom fighter. Wendell Quinn, principal of Hamilton High School needs to find a way to change his failing school. Tired of the violence, drug abuse and teen pregnancies, he decides to start a voluntary after school Bible study group called Raise The Bar. He knows the risks, but with much prayer and his love for his students he goes ahead with his plan. Will the students and faculty embrace the group? Will it make a difference? Change happens and his school is back on track until a student's father finds out his daughter is attending the group. A lawsuit. Will Wendell shut the group down? In today’s moment
Karen Kingsbury gives such an amazing spirit filled story. This story had a lovely current event feel to it that tugged at my heart strings every page. I loved the story she weaved from new characters, to The Baxter family I love reading about. I really felt like Karen Kingsbury truly is one of the best authors of this time. I love her stories and how she always spreads the gospel. This time we aren’t just seeing the Baxter family, we meet new characters. A principal and his son. Principal Quinn is trying to help his school while his son wants to help in any way he can. The story goes through everyone’s trials and tribulations, but it also shows God’s grace. Relationships are formed and families are tested. Truly a wonderful read.

was harder to get into than the other books
I pursued and finished the book. Liked it but it definitely took more to pay attention plus it took me weeks to read it. Not a day like the other ones.

Though Not Entirely About the Baxters, This Novel is Powerful and Emotional!
I read my first Karen Kingsbury book Love Story: A Novel (The Baxter Family Book 1) this past summer and fell in love with the Baxter family! I started working my way through the Baxter series and read a number of standalone novels as well. When I saw there was another book in the Baxter series coming out, I pre-ordered it because I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! Wendell Quinn is the principal for Hamilton High School, a school in Indiana that is on the verge of being shut down. Wendell is frustrated because his school has high crime rates, a lot of gangs, and poor attendance records and grades. He's tried everything he can think of to help his students succeed but nothing has worked. Wendell is a religious man with four children whom he loves dearly. He lost his wife years ago yet he never lost his faith in God. Wendell decides to start a voluntary after school Bible study club. He knows his move is risky but he researches it thoroughly as a last effort to save his school and his students. What happens after that first Bible study club meeting will forever change his life and everyone affected by it. I kept eyeballing the calendar and counting down the days until this book arrived on my Kindle. I get excited every time I start reading a Karen Kingsbury novel because I know the story is going to be a good one! In This Moment didn't disappoint one bit. In fact, I couldn't help but compare parts of it, in particular the courtroom and legal parts, to Jodi Picoult's novels (who happens to be another of my favorite authors). While the two authors have different writing styles, I liked how Karen Kingsbury incorporates a controversial subject (bringing religion and God into a public school) in this novel, much like what Jodi Picoult does. I loved this novel and was immediately hooked when I started reading it! I want to mention that this novel isn't entirely about the Baxters but they all make appearances. Luke Baxter is the one who we read about the most and the way the Baxters all come together to help one another never ceases to amaze me. Though the interactions with the rest of the Baxters is fairly minimal, I still feel this story is well-done and very powerful. I loved every minute of it and am looking forward to the next one in the series!

A great story
What an inspirational and well written novel! There mwere many twists and turns, but the main message was what happens when we have total faith in God. One of the best books I have read.

Brilliant. A real testimony to the reality of an amazing God, and how He works in the lives of ordinary people who trust Him.

You don't need to know all the past characters from Karen Kingsbury's previous books to get absorbed into this story. But it certainly has inspired me to know more about their stories. Looking forward to learning more about some of the characters in her previous novels.
