Good tool.
Solidly built, comfortable in the hand, easy to use. After a month I realized the fan swivels. I’m a windsurfer, so sometimes my (hopeful) eyes see more wind than there actually is. I can stand next to a NOAA gauge, and this hand held is spot on.

Simple
I like how the fan can pivot making it easier to get accurate readings while the screen is fully visible. I use this more for refrence but it helped a lot while balancing airflow.. I've even played around with it in sporting applications, not that I'm good enough for this information to change my score but it was still fun....The only reason I gave a 4 star is the thermometer is either way off or way too slow but I didn't buy it for this purpose so it fits my needs well

Repeatible measurements
This device was really well I've been using it to measure the speed of the air coming out of the HVAC vent and it is very repeatable which is very important. Unfortunately I have no way to correlate the reported wind speed but repeatability is pretty good.

Does not do CFM
The description says it does CFM in the description, but it does not, just another lie, that Amazon allows people to put on their products. Amazon should do like eBay when the seller gets bad reviews they downgrade their positivity and move their them down the pages to deter them from making false claims.

Tiny Wind Speed Meter Packed with FEATURES
The media could not be loaded. Includes a MEMORY function to show what high you just hit in a windstorm or traffic stream. We're currently here in a really bad windstorm, and I was out there holding up this anemometer in the air like the Statue of Liberty, checking out how bad things would get. Weather folks said 30-35 MPG and I could only see up to about 15-20 and I knew I wasn't in the worst of it... But it was certainly strong, and enough to send me packing back inside.Speaking of packing... this little unit packs a lot of info into a small size.- Its head rotates 90* to allow for sideways wind measurement- Wind speed can be displayed in a variety of units- MPH (miles per hr)- KPH (kilometers per hr)- KNT (nautical MPH)- MPS (meters per sec)- FPM (feet per min) -- I'd never heard of this one before... learn something every day, eh?And of course it has that "MAX LEVEL" memory feature that's useful for being reminded of the level of wind trauma you just endured. One other thing that bears mentioning is how small this device is...- Only about 6.5" long- i.e. ~ 17.5 cm longA couple of side mention things I found odd about product design:1. It has no easily click-openable battery door to insert batteries and close it up again.Instead, product designers chose to radically simplify manufacturing for the back plane:> put batteries behind a flat panel with a single screw hole in it -and-> include in the pkg a little screwdriver to adapt to the knowingly bad design!(Curious way to do things, thought I)2. On that flat little battery door,> There's a triangular warning sign molded into the door:> "WARNING: DC 1.5 X 2 AAA"(Huh? Why the warning? Not like batteries are apt to try and get away!?)All in all... even with its curious features, it's still a VERY useful little device.

Should there be such a sound?

Accurate, lightweight, easy to use and handy to have
This Anemometer is very flexible in helping me measure wind speeds and airflow. It displays in Metric or Imperial units, and also in Nautical Knots! The display is always backlit, which helps me read the display, and gives me the temperature in my preferred units. I like the feature of being able to turn the measuring head 90 degrees so that I can stand sideways to the wind so my body doesn’t affect the readings. The Max Hold feature is a good one, letting me know what speed wind gusts are! One drawback is that the unit has a Level function, supposedly to choose what wind level to use while measuring. The instructions mention the function but give no insight on how to use it.I use this little unit for so many things. I have patio umbrellas and a canopy tent, and the Anemometer lets me know when the winds will cause them harm. I used this to test airflow from some table fans I have, letting me choose the right fan for the area. I use the Feet-Per-Minute (FPM) function to monitor the performance of my central heating and air conditioning unit – a drop in speed means that it’s time to change the filter. I even used it to test performance of my vacuum cleaners!I can take the Anemometer out for a day in the field without worrying about it running out of power. I don’t know how long the batteries (2xAAA, included) will last because I’ve never yet run out of power. It’s a nice feature that the manufacturer sent along a Phillips head screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
