Synopsis: Nominated for a golden globe and academy award for Best Animated Feature, my life as a courgette is a vibrant stop-motion animation from director claude barras and writer cรฉline sciama (girlhood, tomboy). After losing his mother, nine-year-old icare (nicknamed โcourgetteโ) befriends raymond, a police officer who takes him to a foster home to live with other kids his own age. although he has trouble finding his place at first, courgette quickly meets new friends, and with their help he learns to love and trust those around him, all the while finding a new family of his own. Brought to life through unforgettable characters and beautiful animation, this is the perfect film for audiences both young and old. Review: A Delightful Film - Generally I'm not a great fan of animation, but I found 'My Life as a Courgette' - covering a great range of moods and feelings in a most humane and sensitive fashion - a truly delightful film, which I recommend to anyone without hesitation. I can understand why previous reviewers wanted more, and thus found the film a little on the short side, but for me - at a time when so many contemporary films are dragged out unnecessarily for two and a quarter or two and a half hours - I thought its brevity added to its appeal. Review: Wonderful Film - Advise to watch it with French subtitles rather than spoken in English, it it more endearing, just a wonderful story of life and love seen through the eyes of children.

Highly recommended
This is a bitter-sweet, sad but funny sort of animated film that deals with some really painful issues. It does so in a very matter-of-fact way and avoids being overly judgmental and preachy. Animation is amazing and the characters' faces hilarious. I really enjoyed the film - nice mix of harsh reality, hope and humour.

Flippin' marvelous
It's beautiful, quirky, moving and just plain brilliant!!! In english dub or in french, this is a magnificent film that has stayed with me after I watched it. Would make a great double feature with A Monster Calls.

A simple, touching tale.....beautifully rendered.
As a male pensioner and a very keen fan of film with animation holding a special place in my heart, I found 'Courgette' to be an affecting tale, touchingly told. Charming backdrops, empathetic characters with loss, friendship and loyalty handled beautifully. The French have a distinct way with animation, which I generally adore. The patience and dedication required to produce stop-start animation boggles my mind. Some folk are just SO clever. Heartily recommend.
