Nakaka Gigil!
The illustrations in this book? Absolutely *adorable*! We went for the hardcover version, because, well—you know how toddlers love to "test" a book's durability. Thankfully, it’s beautifully made, inside and out. If you want to read this with a toddler, keep in mind that the pages AREN’T board-book material so it will NOT be sturdy enough to survive snack-time fingerprints and enthusiastic page-turning; best to turn the pages yourself until they can gently turn it themselves. As for the content, it’s a wonderful little introduction to Filipino culture, filled with the best of our food, landmarks, traditions, and those uniquely charming Tagalog words (like “Gigil”!). I just know this will be a favorite, and I can't wait to snuggle up with our little one and read through it over and over (and over…) for years to come!

Easy to learn
Bought this for a close friend for their newborn. As being part of their life, we'd like them to get to know their Filipino side by learning some Tagalog words!

The accuracy of this book is on point.
I love this book. It was purchased for my Filipino American daughter who is 5 months old with the intention of my mom (her Lola) to read to her and learn all about our culture. It did not disappoint. I loved how the things and places in the book are relevant to us. And the "Z" for zambalas, is the place where my family is from!!

Good overall, but does not use the Filipino alphabet.
Great as a means to educate readers on Filipino culture, but does it within the context of the English alphabet, so if you’re looking for a Filipino alphabet book, this isn’t quite it. The ñ/ng page is awkward. IDK if Amazon allows non-English characters, but picture the n with a tilde that you often see in Spanish. Or look at my picture lol. Tagalog borrows a lot of words from Spanish, but the spelling often changes to avoid letters that don’t exist in the Filipino alphabet (e.g. banyo, panyo). It would’ve been better if they used a word rather than trying to describe the sound. I bet you could find something cute to write about ngiti (smile) or something. Other than that, this is a very cute book! I learned some things myself. Gigil is a concept I hadn’t heard of, but one that is universally experienced.

Great and well thought out concept. Awesome take on a children's book and adding Filipino roots and culture into it. Purchased for nephew and got very nostalgic reading it reminded me of my childhood and memories from home even though I live abroad now. Would recommend this book to everyone.

This alphabet book is beautifully written and it has cute illustrations! Everything about the book is very fun and relatable - content and pictures. This is why it makes a great gift for children or actually to anyone who wants to learn about the Filipino culture. It's also an easy way to connect those who live abroad to the Philippines. Our son, who's turning 3, is already curious about the items listed in the book. We live in Canada and he can't wait to visit the Philippines!
