I didn't think I'd like these but boy was I wrong
For starters I'm not a DJ. Sort of but not really. I used these to play music for my kids swim teams, to entertain the crowd while everyone is warming up, and we use them for announcing heats/events. I am however an audiophile. I did some research for non expensive speakers that I could use a few months out of the year, something that sounds good both indoors and out, and something that could be heard when we're talking or playing music. Needless to say these fit the bill. I got two of them, not knowing that one of them was really needed because of the power, but the 2nd speaker is an added bonus for the people a half mile away who want to hear what we're listening to. What I love is that you can connect these via either XLR or 1/4 from a mixer and it will still sound great. They're not really heavy either, the handles on the side help too. They're great when you put them on a dolly and don't move around or fall off. I also like that you don't even need a mixer to connect the speakers to a device and can go directly into them, and then XLR to the output to another speaker. The only con I can think of is the 6ft cables they give you, when have them on a speaker stand. I ended up buying 15ft cables so I don't have a surge protector hanging off of the speaker stand. But that's about it.

Why are there grooves in the Handles?
I have purchased three Mackie Thump12" and two Thump 15"s and have been reasonably satisfied with the products. Moreso the Thump12" than the Thump 15"s. I wrote an email to the company about my biggest bugaboo with these speakers -- PICKING them UP. I don't believe my original Thump 12's put grooves in the handles. Yes folks, you read this right, GROOVES in the handles. Now the speakers CAN be picked up from the top and that is a REAL nifty feature. But now that I went back to the Thump 12" speakers, guess what I discovered. You guessed it, GROOVES in the handles. The outside of the handles that you can see where your fingers do NOT go are baby butt smooth. But where you grab them are grooves. Are the R & D folks having a just a great laugh at us professional folks?

Mackie Thump 212 con buena presion sonora (decibeles), muy facil de instalar y operar. Recomiendo complementar con un Subwoofer de 18 pulgadas, asi sera el complemento perfecto.
