Not bad for a nine hour candle
The lantern I received is not exactly as shown in the picture, but hey ho it's a UCO lantern and it's silver in colour. The candle gives out the same amount of light no matter what the colour of the lantern is. As a wee test I lit one of the candles supplied with the lantern and got a burn time of over 13 hours. Not bad for a nine hour candle. The burn time may vary if it was lit outdoors with draughts etc,; my test was carried out indoors. Even taking the longer burn time into consideration the UCO candles are in my opinion overpriced and I will be making my own at a fraction of the cost. All in all it's a good wee lantern.

👍👍👍👍
Used this little lamp 3 times now on my wild camping trips. Gives off a lovely light not to bright. Wind can't get to it to put it out. I've lit the candle around 8pm left it on all night till the next day around 7am still had quarter left of the candle. Very handy if you wake in the night and there is no light helps you find your bearings. Well made to. Easy to light.

Nice relaxing reading lantern and a bit of heat too
I have spent and wasted a f o r t u n e on camping / tent lights from camping gaz lamps to the latest Cree led fad. I must say that hearing the pop and noise from a gas lamp is great but it's a bit on the large size and hot on the temperature size for a small 1-2 person tent. The UCO lantern is a great compromise. It packs away small, doesn't get scorching hot and provides a great relaxing reading light (see photo). No dangerous fumes either in an enclosed tent. I can hold the lamp without burning my hand, I.e a waft of wind pushing an untied flapping door onto the lantern didn't do any damage. Of course, use your own common sense and always be safe.A great purchase, am very happy with the UCO lantern.

Beautiful, compact and will last for many years to come.
Awesome compact little heat and light source.Feels very robust in the brass and will age beautifully.Just be careful of the metal cap above the candle. Without thinking I automatically pushed down on the top straight after blowing out the candle. It’s very, very hot!

UCO Are Not What They Used To Be
The first UCO candle lantern I purchased was years ago, and one of the originals when they first came out. It's a fantastic thing, and I value it greatly as part of my kit. So, when I saw this attractive looking brass version I purchased it, thinking it would be the same quality. It isn't.Instead of being made in America like my original, it seems production has been shifted to China. Design tweaks have been made, the quality has gone noticeably down, and this lantern has a slightly shoddy feel about it, by comparison. For instance, instead of being a snug fit, the bottom cap is now made of thinner plastic, and rattles around loosely, loosing the solid click to lock it in position. And where the original wire handle used to fold around the base and stay there during transport, locking the lantern closed, the new one doesn't. It managed this by a clever friction fit, but the new handle is over-sized and just flops around, unable to be held in position. Lastly, the glass shade is no longer fixed to the top section, and can be slid downwards to light the wick, but I feel this makes it more prone to breakage. To light the original you simply have to drop the candle out of the base - a very simple thing. So in summary, I feel very disappointed indeed that yet another product has seemingly de-evolved in the interests of saving on production costs at the expense of quality. It would be nice if the products we value could actually be refined and improved for a change. UCO would do well to re-evaluate their strategy, and I'm not the only reviewer to notice their change for the worse. Built to the original design and quality standards this would be a 5 star lantern, but the most it's worth now is a 3, in my humble opinion.

Produit d'excellente qualité surtout avec le pac flat.Idéal dans mon bateau.Les bougies durent vraiment longtemps et la lumière sans être aveuglante est suffisante...

Reliable
These are old school for a reason they last along time and don’t require gas or power or fuel.

Wonderful
Not much else to add to what has already been said by thousands before me except to say that this lantern is legendary. This particular one is made of aluminum. There are various colors and accessories and you can buy the lantern in Bronze as well (the material not the color). The aluminum is lighter than the Bronze so it makes it easier to carry. It works incredibly well and the standard candles will last for 9 hours. Good for an emergency light and also to generate some heat. Comes with a handy chain to attach somewhere. This one even came with a reflector which I have not used or needed yet. It's meant to redirect light into a particular direction. One last thing to note:Use the standard (white) UCO candles or the Citronella (Blue) candles. I can't tell how well the Citronella candles work for keeping the bugs away but both these candles work well for lighting. The Beeswax candles are a disaster. Yes the last longer but the gum up the spring loaded mechanism and after burning one candle you cannot just throw another in because the walls will be sticky and the spring mechanism won't work. You do not want to find this out on your camping trip. Stick to the white or blue candles and you will be ok.Makes for a great component to your car survival kit, especially if you live in a cold climate.Outstanding product. 5 stars. Would buy again.

Great Lantern
Great lantern to create atmosphere in the camping ground although it’s a bit too dim but it’s not striking to your eyes. I have Goal Zero and ML6 and the goal zero light is too bright to look at. Temporary blind u if you look at the goal zero light so this UCO is just nice compare to battery operated lantern.
