Does what it says
Decades ago I bought a spice rack containing loads of different herbs and spices, and one of them was a meat tenderiser. I think it might be pineapple extract containing the enzyme that breaks down meat fibres and tenderises it. Eventually I used up the last of it and started searching to see if I could buy some more, and here it is! Yay! Does what it says. I marinate thin chicken strips with a dash of this plus a bit of toasted sesame oil and a squirt of garlic paste and a dash of dry sherry and put it in the fridge for half an hour before stir-frying it with cashews and then add a stir-fry sauce to finish it off for a really yummy Chinese main course. Chicken always nice and tender.

Works well
Works well with tougher cuts of meat. Very salty, so DONT add any salt to recipe until you’ve tasted it.

Wee bit salty but...
Sprinkled 2 tbs onto 500g beef. Good stir. Stood 15 mins. Meat was very tender, but not at all mushy. Sauce was quite salty. I counteracted the salty with a small sprinkle of Cider vinegar and some sweet veg, corn, peas. Next time I may use 1 tbs and leave it to stand for 1/2 hour Very pleased.

Use it for what it is intended
I bought this because there is a lot of hype on the website which says meat tenderiser removes blood stains. It does not. So, the product is perfectly fine, I presume, if it is used for what it is intended. I will never know because I don't eat meat. I will pass the product on, and I am sure it will be fine. Very reasonably priced.

Seems to help woody chicken
Supermarket chicken with an odd woody texture, almost like cartilage, seems a lot more common than it used to be. We put a little of this stuff on any suspect pieces after cubing or slicing it, leave a few minutes and then cook and since doing this haven't had any come out inedibly chewy. About 1tsp per 500g of chicken seems enough, so the pack lasts quite a while, and it's cheap enough to use "just in case"

Great product and hard to find in supermarkets
Was amazed to see bottled variety costs £6 This fills bottle nicely with same volume for 1/3 price. Best to sprinkle lightly over both sides of room temperarure meat/steak and stab suface to help penetrate: leave for 30 minutes before cooking. Tenderises all types of steak to eat like fillet steak. Buy 4 packs as your friends will steal it from you after tasting your steaks! Update 5 may 2021 Needed some more, but this time found from MullacoOnline.com at only 55p per 100g pack + P&p!!!
