Absolutely perfect

So while trying get my truck back on the road after a couple of years of sitting, like an idiot while try to make “just a little more room to remove the fuel injection I pulled too hard on the heater hose and the connection broke at the heater core. I was told it was the heater core and was going to have to remove the dash to fix it etc, etc. .turned out it was an adapter from the hose to the core which was a great relief. Found the adapters. After that, found this tool. After reading the negative reviews (which I usually check first), my anxiety level went way up. Having struggled with similar “quick release” tools for fuel lines with mixed results, and getting tired of throwing money into the truck I figured what’s another $10 for this problem. The reviews were like “overpriced “ , “wouldn’t fit”, “useless “, “junk”, blah blah blah. I thought maybe I could cut the fittings off without damaging the heater core. $10 gamble vs. all day and expensive core replacement? So I bought it. Yes it was a tight spot. Yes my luck with yythis type of tool wasn’t great. Yes you can’t get a grip on the broken piece and twist- turn-pull… The tool worked great but here’s a few steps that’ll make it work easily. 1) make sure it’s aligned correctly with the fitting. A little crooked and it won’t go in. 2) I had a long set of hose pliers that are hooked at the end similar to the ones in the picture I included. With the tight space you can grip, and twist it with enough room for your other hand to use the release tool. Makes it 100% easier! This tool is great quality. Aluminum instead of plastic. Hinged so you’re not fumbling with two half pieces in an already tight space. Small enough to fit and release. Sturdy enough to use many times. Anxiety gone! For this job anyway. 100% worth buying, even if you never use it again. One of the best things I’ve bought on Amazon. The screenshot of the pliers are similar to mine if that helps.

Worked perfectly! Took just a couple minutes to work the tool into position and twist the hose flange to make sure it’s loose. pull the tool forward and once it slips under the locking part of the flange it’s off. Tool stays in place so it’s easy to retrieve.
