Good for the price.
I have found this to be a brilliant little kit, extremely handy for home networking giving you the basic tools for what you need. There have been many times i have used the cable tester on home made ends and has greatly helped when trying to fault find. The ease of use off all of the kit can be a bit fiddley depending on what you are doing. there are better options if you are doing a lot of connector ends for example (RJ45 Ends) Crimps and plugs where you can push the inner cores through the connector making life a lot easier. This does come with a big cost in most cases though. With a bit of practice you will be making good ends off in no time. Overall I would Highley recommend this kit for a home user or DIYer as is a brilliant little kit for the tool box.

OK for DIY use
I used to make up cables in my job many years ago, nowadays I just buy them, however I've a need for some non-standard cable length so I bought this kit. The kit has everything in it that you should need to make up some RJ45 cables, at £20 it's not going to be the best in the world and given PRO kit is more than double this just for the crimpers alone, this should be sufficient for DIY needs. The included RJ45 plugs are OK, you can probably buy better elsewhere however they are perfectly fine for practising on. I took an old ethernet cable, cut it into lengths and started trying to crimp some plugs. First off, the cable stripper/cutter on the crimpers is useless - I used the straight edge on my needle nosed pliers to cut the cables straight. The yellow wire strippers are really good however and you only need a few turns to get through to the inner core of the cable. I'd forgotten how much of a pain it was to get the strands into the correct order, the included instruction book tells you what they need to be, but ensuring they stay in place whilst inserting into the RJ45 plug is a pain. However after 3 attempts I had a perfectly wired and functional cable. I tested it with the included cable tester, again, this works well but I wonder about it's longevity as after 3 tests, LED 8 was starting to flicker a little. I plugged the cable into my switch and my laptop and bingo, internet access. So to summarise, if you set your expectations according to the price and you're doing some DIY cables then this kit will be fine. If you're doing PRO installs then this isn't the kit for you.

Very good value for money
After reading the negative reviews I was a bit sceptical about what the quality of this was going to be but when I received it this morning and used it for the first time it was absolutely spot on - admittedly the first two crimps were wrong (I had the pairs swapped) but that is user error and nothing to do with the tool. I have used similar tools before and can say this compares well with others double the price. The only thing that is a bit dubious are the quality of the connectors supplied which at this price is not surprising and I might recommend purchasing better quality versions with cable guides making it easier to insert the Cat5 cable. The cable checker works really well and correctly diagnosed the swapped pair I had made on my first crimp so again nothing to criticize here and also diagnosed a faulty cable I had already suspected of being a problem. All in all recommended for light to medium use and at the current price this kit is a steal.

Really impressed
I was impressed with the ease of use and quality of these tools for the price. As some reviewers mentioned, you will need to buy a 9V battery for the cable tester but they're easily picked up cheaply in pound shops or similar. Included is a simple 10-step instruction guide for making a network cable that was easy to follow. The picture provided of the different coloured cable order (1-8) is in black and white but clearly labelled. I would recommend colouring it yourself for reference though, or using a colour picture from online. The quality of the tools is on the whole high and the included RJ45 connecting heads and protective sheaths are a nice touch and the reason I went for this kit over others on Amazon. It took around 5-10 mins to make my first cable once I worked everything out and is certainly a lot cheaper than getting an engineer to do the much longer cable run I plan to do. No hesitation recommending to others.

Good tool kit
I’ve used the kit to make up a few RJ45 cables. Cutting cable is easy as is stripping the cover back. Termination on the supplied plugs is super easy too and once the cable is complete, the tester provides assurance that all cables are correctly inserted and in order. You do need one of those cuboid batteries. Even comes with BT joints. The actual crimper is as good as any I’ve used. Only thing I upgraded was the push tool but the one in the kit is ample. Overall I would highly recommend this kit. The quality is good enough to last my lifetime as a DIYer.

Feels cheap and you can feel it. but the pricetag was cheap so... What do I have to complain about? Only thing that would be 5 stars is if the cable tester didnt use the batteries designed for this device. Use USB or AA/AAA instead.

I like the set and the price is great. But the quality of the tools I received seems a very little bit lacking in a very annoying way. - The battery cover on the tester was stuck and is very hard to open without prying it a bit with a screwdriver. - There are 2 small bumps that hold the remote tester in place so it doesn't fall out. But the bumps seem a bit too thick where I have to put a lot of force to slide the remote tester out. - The cable with the new connector gets stuck in the crimping tool and I have to either pull it out or push it out by force after crimping. Despite those small annoying 'issues', still a great kit.
