Fixed my dual monitor EDID sync problem completely.
Several weeks ago I built and installed a new Windows 11 PC to replace my old Win 7 PC. To provide for a smooth transistion and ease to transfer data files and programs, I set up my new PC right next to my old PC and purchased a dual monitor and dual PC KVM switch system to quickly facilitate that purpose. The KVM unit I purchased here on Amazon had one set of DP and HDMI ports for each PC and monitor. My monitors accomodate both as well as my Win 11 PC, but my old Win 7 PC only has HDMI and DVI. I was able to purchase an active DVI/HDMI to DP converter which solved that problem and allowed the video from both ports to work through the KVM switch. However, any time I switched the KVM from the Win 7 to the Win 11 PC, and back again, all my Win 7 Desktop icons shifted over to monitor 1 and monitor 2 would only have my background screen, or in some cases, the monitor would not come up at all and go into standby mode. I also experienced that same issue on occasion when my Win 7 returned from Sleep mode. In researching the issue, I learned about EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) and was made to realize that was my problem in that my older Win 7 PC needs constant feedback from the monitor connection to keep the screen configurations in place correctly. Every time that connection was broken, all my 70+ monitor 2 icons shifted to monitor 1. Very exasperating! Upon further research, I found that Amazon does sell KVM switches with EDID emulation built into the switch to deal with this issue. However, where as my simple DP/HDMI 2+2 switch was under $40, these EDID Elumator switches were over $200. I then stumbled upon these HDMI EDID emulator dongles that advertised to simulate to the PC the required fixed EDID data to trick my Win 7 PC into believing that it is still connected to the monitor even when I switched away to the Win 11 PC or returning from Sleep mode. I ordered two units, inserted them between the output of my PC HDMI output jacks and the HDMI cables going to the KVM switch and they have fixed my EDID problem completely. No more disconnects or screen reverts since I installed them four days ago. All icons and/or open programs stay exactly where they were before switching thereby now providing the switching flexibility I was seeking without mishap. At only $7.50 each, it was a very cheap and easy fix! However, there are some details that bear discussion: 1) The EDID emulator simulates and comes up in the Windows Screen Resolution screen as "Woieyeks-4K" and not the name of the actual monitor name you are using. Which makes sense if it is to fool the PC when disconnected. 2) Even though it is backwards compatible from 4K back down to 800x600 resolution, it maxes out at 60Hz for screen refresh rate even on the 100Hz monitors I have now. So if a 60Hz limit is an issue, you may need to look elswhere. 3) At this moment, purchase of one unit is $7.50. A 2 Pack is $24.99 (or $12.495 each) and a 3 Pack is $27.50 (or 9.166 each) Do as I did and just order singles at $7.50 and be way ahead of the game. In light that these devices did exactly what they advertised, fixed my problem completely, were truely "Plug & Play", an inexpensive fix to my problem and the 60Hz limit was not an issue for me, I highly recommend this product to fix any of the issues I listed above that you may be experiencing. Interestingly enough, my new Windows 11 PC does not have any of the same EDID sync issues that the Win 7 PC did and therefore it did not require this same fix. At least none that I have discovered, yet. Hope this helps!

Fixes that HDMI monitor connection loss when switched to another device
This worked EXACTLY as I needed it to. I have three computers going into an HDMI switch which allows me to share ONE Monitor with three different computers. My work computer would always loose the HDMI monitor connection after a period of time so the next day when I would switch to it, I could never get the computer to wake up or display an image without first having to open the laptop screen. This was cumbersome since the laptop is out-of-the-way. This EDID adapter fixed that by keeping the HDMI Monitor connection ALIVE when I was switched to another computer. No matter how much time had passed, when I switched back to my work computer it was ready to go without me having to open the laptop screen anymore. GET THIS if that is similar to your issue.

worked for a year and died
Stopped working after 1 year. computer still sees the emulated signal, but it no longer passes through the actual HDMI data for the monitor to see it's connected to the TV. HDMI cable works fine without the emulator in between

Worked great with my Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 and Sony A95L TV
I have a Sony A95L TV and a Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 (both running 4K at 60 Hz) plugged into my PC, but when I turn them off the NVIDIA drivers frequently crash my Windows 11 system. I used these to make them appear to stay on at all times and they work great right out of the box, identical picture quality and dead cheap. I didn't have to reconfigure the fixed EDID in software or anything. The only caveat that took me a while to figure out is that I have to recalibrate the Cintiq in Wacom Tablet Properties to make it work with the new display. I also didn't try audio or HDR or GSync, so can't comment on that.

Somewhat useful but not fully reliable.
Worked with some devices, but not with others.

Got my audio back.
Worked like a charm. Needed to connect my PC media center to my living room TV through an older amp. PC wasn't recognizing the amp as as an audio output though it would display. Added this and done.

Works with KVM and 2 laptops.
Works- only problem I have with the adapter is that it will only run 119/120hz or refresh rate at 1080P. 2k and above will run at 59hz. I have had this weird bug where if I upscale it to 4k (my monitor is a 2k) and back down to 2k, I get a noticeable black bar on each side as the window as if my monitor didnt support it. Unplugging helps reset it back to full fit.

Works like a charm
Works like a charm to keep my Mac Mini awake while my non-active KVM switch is serving other computers.
