My rode nt-usb isn't being detected on my 2023 mac mini m2 but is fine on a hp laptop windows 10. is this particular rode mic compatible with apple?

My Rode goes through an Audiobox USB Interface which then hooks into my MacMini, and works fine. These interfaces only run about $95-$149 or so and have two channels.

is the shock mount as bad as some describe?

Yes. Don't get it for the shock mount. Get it for the superior sound and the floating point recording capability. I'm using the shock mount and it's workable, but it is a significant downgrade for me. I don't know what shock mounts are compatible, so you'll want to look into that. I've not owned many in my lifetime.

Does this come with software to allow you to record and then edit the 32 bit float gain? I don’t see that in the Rode connect podcast software.

It doesn't come with any software. What ever you find on the site is what is available. I use Adobe Audition, I think you can use Audacity it's free.

Can you still use the rode nt1 5th generation with an audio interface?

The Rode NT1 5th Generation can be connected both ways, to an interface or via USB-C.
