Great OBD2 Scanner – Accurate and Easy to Use!
I recently purchased the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE) OBD2 Fault Code Reader, and I’m really impressed. Setting it up was straightforward — just plug it into the OBD2 port, pair it with my phone via Bluetooth, and I was ready to go within minutes. The app interface (compatible with both iOS and Android) is clean and intuitive. It reads and clears engine codes quickly and provides clear descriptions of any issues, which makes diagnosing problems a lot less stressful. I also like that it works with multiple car brands, which is a big plus. So far, it has accurately detected faults and helped me understand minor issues before they became bigger problems. The connection is stable, and the device itself feels solid and well-built. If you want an affordable, reliable OBD2 scanner for home use or as a first-time diagnostic tool, I’d definitely recommend the Vgate iCar Pro. It saves time and gives peace of mind.

Perfect for reading and clearing fault codes. Works well on IOS
Works really well. Just plugged it straight into my OBD2 port and it lit up straight away so very easy to use. I used a third party app (IOS - car scanner) and it connected in seconds and read the codes stored in a matter of minutes. It seems good quality and was packaged really nicely, compact in a small box (fits nicely in my glovebox) , only used once so far.

Bluetooth obd 2
This is a great little device. Worked perfectly on my 07 ford focus and my 2001 Lexus is200. Was able to check all codes, remove dash lights and check stats live. When you receive it you need to download developers app VgateFwUpdater, once downloaded open it. Hit the scan button to scan for your device once done hit update to update the firmware. Bear in mind engine needs to be switched on for power to update & scan the ecu. Then download car scanner on App Store. Very simple to do. Just plug the obd in and start the engine up, open car scanner, go to setting and select your car from the database once done, go to the main menu and hit connect. Takes a few seconds only. On my Lexus I removed the check engine light cause of the decat and removed all lambda codes. Cel then turned off. The ford focus had 1 code for a system fault which was removed. Everything is sound now. Saved money from going to a mechanic. Brilliant little obd scanner. 3 lights on the front to tell you it’s on & Bluetooth is active. Can’t recommend it more. For £20 what more could you want. Just buy it.

Works well with Land Rover Discovery Sport
Exploring the intricacies of this little gizmo, I found it quite practical with a few quirks along the way. Connecting it to my 2019 Land Rover Discovery Sport was straightforward enough, but be prepared, you'll either stick to the recommended app with its subscription or hunt down alternatives that are VIN-limited. A bit cheeky, that. Now, while it worked flawlessly on my Disco, it threw a strop when trying to connect to an older Megane. Android chums will have a smoother ride over iOS users, who might face compatibility hitches. But there's hope if you're patient. For example, I nearly abandoned ship but found that keeping my phone within inches of the reader finally did the trick. It's a bit like coaxing a cat to behave, honestly. When all is said and done, it does what's on the tin, with a dash of patience.

Checked my car battery health
I bought this specifically to keep an eye on my first Renault Zoe. If you own an EV, you know how stressful it can be not knowing the true state of your battery, but this little device made it so simple. I used it with the app (which was surprisingly user-friendly and easy to navigate) and was able to see that my battery health was sitting at 93%. What I love most is that you don't need to be a mechanic or have a professional diagnostic machine to understand the data. It lays everything out in a way that just makes sense. Beyond the battery health (SOH), you can check a ton of other live data like real-time energy usage, cell voltages, and even clear those annoying "check engine" lights if they pop up. It’s tiny, so I just leave it plugged in and it doesn't get in the way at all. For the price, it gives you so much information that would usually cost a fortune at a garage. Definitely a solid investment if you want peace of mind with your electric car.

Great little device
I'm awarding 5 stars as this did everything expected of it. Comes with a booklet of QR codes so you can find the OBD scanner program your car prefers more easily. However, it took me a while to find a program that worked with my car. (Not the device's problem!) The first program I downloaded did not reset fault codes unless you paid a monthly subscription. The second one declared the free version did set codes but damned if I could find how to. The third program worked like a dream. I won't give the program names because you'll have a different experience depending on your car. Do what I did - quiz Chatgpt about which program works best for your car - and stipulate fault code reset in the free version, if that's what you want.

I use this in conjunction with the Torque Pro app for real time monitoring of my coolant temp and STFT/LTFT (short + long-term fuel trims) on my older BMW E46. I have used it to read and clear codes, but do not expect this to provide more detailed information or in-depth scanning. You will need a much more expensive scan tool for that purpose. This is good for basic diagnosis and engine sensor monitoring only. It is also not compatible with Bimmercode which was a disappointment as I planned on using this for coding certain features as well. However, I have been using this permanently tethered to my car's OBD2 port to provide real-time data while I'm driving for the past 4 months, and for that purpose it has served me well. I was able to track the LTFT data daily which reached 10% a few weeks ago, notifying me of a few vacuum leaks due to a torn intake boot and a 20 year old fuel filter that hadn't been changed since it rolled off the assembly line in 2002. Monitoring LTFT is crucial in alerting you to vacuum leaks, issues with your fuel system, and lean/rich conditions overall.
