Philips HD 7546/20

I bought this "used like new" from amazon resale for £28!, it came in the original box and was completely like new. I have had many filter coffee machines and the standard seems to be getting worse, it's like a race to the bottom, if you know what I mean? Not with philips, this thing is absolutely solid, beautifully built, you will need to get an EU to UK adapter, but wait until you receive it as you may get one supplied (if buying new), anyway as you can see I have used a tapo WiFi plug so my alexa turns it on an hour before I get up. It takes about 15 minutes to brew a full pot and the jug is excellent, two hours after the brew had finished the coffee is piping hot, this thermal jug really is good quality. The coffee tastes fantastic. I really can't recommend this enough, especially at £28! Ps, always make a full pot as this will retain the heat better in the jug. The spout is completely non drip pouring which is refreshing to see. Pps, if you have one of those reusable filters from an old machine, it slots in perfectly, I prefer to just use the disposable filters for convenience. It uses size no 4 filters. Phillips you have done it again!

We love filter coffee and this is the best machine we've ever had. It's very fast and there seems little chance of having the dreadful overflow that has happened with every other machine from time to time. The coffee drops into the metal flask and keeps hot for a couple of hours and STILL tastes fresh. There is no hotplate so a saving in energy AND we no longer have the conversation in the car about five minutes after leaving home, "Did you turn the coffee off?" The top to the flask takes some getting used to but it is not really difficult. We're a little concerned that this is essential to the efficient operation of the machine and it may wear and fail early. Might try buying a spare. It will make five mugs of coffee which is one too many so we do find that we are wasting some as the last mugful tends to get cold before we want it. (I know, only make four mugs) This machine is expensive but it looks great, is quiet and quick. Highly recommended. I have added below my review of a circular tray that we use to contain any overflows from our filter coffee maker. You'll find the make and supplier if you check my other reviews. I don't think the Philips machine will ever overflow but this tray has saved many a clean up job in the past, TRAY REVIEW We needed to replace a similar tray that had gathered 'salt' deposits. We place our filter coffee maker in it so that any occasional overflows don't run onto the work surface and into drawers and onto the floor. It has been excellent. The purchase of a new coffee maker prompted the replacement of the tray. The new one is slightly different, but better in appearance. The main change is that it will slide easily on the work surface without 'feeling' as it there is some abrasion. This slides easily allowing the machine to be moved forward for pouring in the water. For our purpose, highly recommended

I brought this coffee maker because I was sick of the glass jug breaking on previously owned ones. I thought it was a bit pricey but the stainless steel jug appealed to me because its looks sturdy and would not break after a few uses. Having used it for the last two months I've found it was worth the money. The thermal jug keeps the coffee hot for a long time after being brew I have known it stay hot or up to two hours and still warm after several,the best feature is that without the usual hot plate which is on most coffee maker there is no fire risk. The jug is sturdy and pours well, however the lid needs turning one way to open it and the other to remove the lid this can be a little tricky at first but you get the hang of it. Overall a great coffee maker, the only criticisms I have is that as the coffee maker is not made with an English plug it come with an adapter which did not fit our plug socket. I had to go out and buy a different adapter which was easy enough but I felt for the price I was paying it should have come with the right adapter. Also the overall build quality feels a little cheap and for the price it could have done with a better finish.

A very good coffee-maker. Very fast to brew, then it switches off automatically. Coffee kept nice and hot in the thermos jug - much better than it being kept warm by a hot-plate as with other coffee-makers, as this very quickly results in a stewed drink. It also obviously saves energy. No timer, but I have mine plugged into the mains via a remote-controlled adaptor, so I can switch it on from my bed when I wake-up using the remote. This works very well indeed, especially with the coffee then being ready so soon. Only one negative point - it comes with a continental two-prong mains plug, rather than a UK one, so you either need to use an adaptor, or cut the existing plug off and put on a British one.

I have used one of these coffee makers for over well over 15-years, twice-a-day-every-day; and have just bought my third. I am very pleased to say that the new one is the same, and as good as my old one - with no new gimmicks. The coffee filters through well, and stays hot in the jug for a goodly time (I do warm the jug with hot water in the winter). It looks good and is easy to clean. Needless to say, it makes delicious coffee! However, if the coffee is ground too coarsely it can lack strength, so I use 'espresso' ground coffee which works very well with the Melitta filter papers I use (I do enjoy regular mugs of strong coffee).

I don't understand other negative reviews - this machine is brilliant - very fast very high quality - makes superb coffee. I have used every day for 2 years and it still looks like new ! This was after several machines from De Longhi & John Lewis which broke down within a few weeks - because of pointless over complicated controls. This Philips machine has a single ON button and automatically switches off when ready - simple reliable perfect. I love filter coffee - especially Tesco finest Costa Rica which is amazing - gives a much better caffeine hit than espresso, also less calories & less filling than the milk shakes from Starbucks. To get great taste you need a machine like this - which uses a Thermos Jug and Paper Filters - this is essential most filter coffee machines ruin the coffee by stewing it - it is surprisingly hard to get a machine like this in uk because of the fashion for very expensive to run Nespresso type machines. Anyway the German supplier was very efficient and included a UK adapter so I highly recommend them, I'm just about to buy 3 more as Christmas presents.

Firstly, I call this machine "Big Phil". It's strong, sturdy and makes blooming good coffee. Design Genius. From the insulated jug, to zero hotplates, to never having to worry about dripping coffee everywhere, this excels. I'd go as far as saying it's damn near idiot proof. Some people gripe at paper filters. I prefer them. Makes cleaning and recycling so much faster as you just take the lid out and empty it into your bin of choice...no spooning out coffee grains. Functionality Big Phil works quick...I reckon he does a 10+ cup in five minutes and does so quietly. Once I've added coffee and water, I press one button. Simple. The coffee Tastes as it should. Clean, flavourful and kept hot for hours - literally 12 hours later it's still warm.

This item has a French plug, not a UK plug.

Der Kaffee wird schnell gebrüht und bleibt dank der Edelstahl Thermoskanne lange heiß, ohne an Geschmack zu verlieren. Besonders praktisch ist der Tropf-Stopp. Dadurch kann man sich schon während des Brühvorgangs eine Tasse einschenken, ohne dass Kaffee nachtropft. Die Maschine wirkt hochwertig verarbeitet und passt mit dem modernen Design gut in die Küche. Auch die Reinigung ist unkompliziert und schnell erledigt. Positiv ist außerdem, dass der Kaffee schön heiß wird und das Aroma intensiv bleibt, gerade bei mehreren Tassen merkt man den Unterschied zur normalen Glaskanne deutlich. Fazit: Zuverlässige Filterkaffeemaschine mit guter Thermoskanne, starkem Aroma und einfacher Handhabung. Für Kaffeetrinker definitiv empfehlenswert.

Mon épouse et moi-même aimons le café fort et nous buvons entre 1.5 et 2 verseuses par jour. J'ai acheté une cafetière Melitta du même garbarie que celle-ci et le café a notre grande déception avait le goût de flotte. J'ai donc décidé de renvoyer la melitta et de repartir sur cette cafetière Philipps. Je poste donc 3 photos pour illustrer mes propos. Mon ancienne Philipps a été acheté en 2005 et elle a tenu 15 ans, a tel point que la marquage Philips a disparu ! La verseuse a tellement vu de café que celui-ci s'est agrégé sur les parois. Ce n'est pas l'alu qui se désagrège comme j'ai vu sur un commentaire. C'est le café qui se concrétionne sur la paroi ! On peut gratter et réussir à nettoyer mais il faut vraiment de l'huile de coude ... Le résultat de ce grattage est un agrégat de poussière de café comme vu sur une photo d'un autre commentaire. Cela rend le café encore plus fort ! Ce qu'il faut savoir : _ Vous faites du café à 7h et il est encore chaud à 13h. _ Dans ma précédente Philipps, une cuillère à doser était fourni. Pas dans cette nouvelle. Voir photo pour la taille approximative. _ Une dose de café par grande tasse est suffisant pour avoir un bon café (2 cuillères pour la melitta) _ L'auto off arrête la cafetière après 1 ou 2 minutes (C'est bien 5 minutes pour la melitta) _ Il faut mettre des filtres 1x4. Je conseille les Melitta Gourmet. Cette cafetière est donc un vrai plaisir. Elle permet d'avoir un café fort qui est chaud longtemps, consomme peut de café in fine comparé à la Melitta et fonctionne vraiment bien sur le long terme. C'est une valeur sûre rentabilisé sans aucun doute sur le long terme.
