I replace these regularly as part of maintenance, and I keep a spare on the bike. I've only had one break (not of this set) maybe 10 years ago, but being miles from home with a broken chain is not fun. Glad that had a spare link. The newer links don't slide closed as easily as the older ones...and I never had an earlier model come apart unexpectedly...but once is is set, and I start to ride, the link pins pop into position. That means that they are also harder to remove without tools.

I've used these for years and reuse them over and over again without issue. They're supposedly one time use but they work fine reused.

You can only use the once! I tried removing and reinstalling once. It snapped when I put some pressure on the pedal. LET'S BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Don’t buy just one pair of these, buy four. You will need them at some point and likely need more later. Why wouldn’t you have a couple pair? One for the bench, another for the pack and another in the car. You should consider buying 8.

I was a bit surprised by the relatively thin gauge side plates compared to the actual chain links, but it is working well with no shifting hiccups. It is recommended for one time use only, but I’ll roll the dice and use it twice before discarding for a new one.

I keep a couple in my bike bag incase a chain snaps out in the sticks.

Powerlinks work very well. They are just so expensive for what they are. I’d a 135 link chain is only $35, why is the connector link $5-6 by itself. Either way, $5 is cheap if you need one on the trail.
