Would there be a benefit to using these under bookshelf speakers that weigh 17.5 lbs each?

You need to divide the bookshelf speaker weight by the number of vibrapods you're using to get a weight per vibrapod. The Model 2 are recommended for 6 lbs each, or 24 lbs total for 4 and would be best for your 17.5 lb speakers assuming you are using 3 or 4 vibrapods.

I have a pair of speakers that weigh 28lbs ea. Would you recommend Model 2 or 3 using 4 isolators each? One is underrated and the other is overrated.

I had the same question. Go to the manufacturer’s site. They list weight ranges for each product on the FAQ page. These model 2’s are rated for 4-8 pounds each. They say It is not better to “buy bigger” than you need,

Has anyone used these under the stock feet of a technics sl1200 mk2 turntable and seen an improvement?

I have not used them on a Technics turntable but it helped my Harmon Kardon h55 turntable some what. For $24.00 you can't go too wrong

Can a paper or plastic liner be used to protect wood shelf from finish damage?

I used these on oak hardwood floors, and also on a wood desk top (type of wood unknown). Having said that, I did not place anything under them in either case and in my situation did not experience any damage to the wood surfaces. The speakers I had them under as well were oak and/or painted wood of some kind (pressboard probably). I can only relay my experience.
