Sioux Chief 652-A, 1

A few years ago we installed a brand new washing machine in our 100 year old house. When using the delay timer (to ensure the washing was ready for hanging on the line after breakfast), we were woken every single morning by banging, as the high tech new machine turned the water on and off with such force that our rusty old plumbing could not cope. After months of research I solved the problem with a Sioux Chief mini-restor. Unfortunately we had a brand new kitchen fitted a couple of years later, and the complex helter-skelter of new pipes under our sink caused the problem to return. This time neither buying a new mini-restor, fitting it to different pipes, nor using two water-hammer arrestors at the same time solved the problem for very long. I eventually found this larger, more heavy-duty version. It is less DIY-friendly than the smaller arrestor, and took several attempts to fit successfully without leaking. I had to buy a brass T-connector, an adapter to fit this to one end, and another adapter to fit the washing machine hose to the other end of the T. I then had to cake all joins in PTFE tape and silicone, and wait a week before turning the water back on. Finally we can sleep through the night once more.Worth every penny and hour of effort.
