Butterfly Pedal

I was looking for a new kitchen bin and already knew of the reputation of Simplehuman. After a little research I quickly decided to invest in the 30L butterfly pedal bin. Arriving quickly I was surprised at how compact the unit is (smaller than I expected in comparison to the photo's however for me this is not a negative) I was so pleased to see that the stainless steel finish truly is finger print proof! I really do not like stainless steel products as it marks and scratches so easily and is a nightmare to keep clean. Thankfully this is not something I need to worry about with this bin! The bin itself is very smart and discreet and you really can see the quality in every aspect. The unit is lightweight yet robust and easy to handle. The bin is functional as the butterfly lids allow full access to the can (unlike my previous Typhoon Capsule pedal bin which had a tiny opening making it difficult to scrape plates etc) I like the way in which smaller details have been thought of such as the soft close function and how you can prop the lids open for longer use and bag changes. There is even a built in rest enabling you to tilt the plastic bucket at an angle allowing for easier bag changes. I have also purchased the Simplehum can liners and will continue to do so. They fit perfectly and ensure no liner is seen when the lids are closed. Not only that but they are strong and well constructed with reinforced seams and useful tie handles. I am the kind of person who will invest in a quality item and if you are looking for a new kitchen bin that will not only function perfectly and look great in your kitchen then look no further; you've just found it!

we needed to upgrade in the kitchen and really searched for a quality smallish bin, this one is superb. Not cheap but well worth it. Well made, foot operated, fits in a small space, closes itself slowly - no noise.

It looks as good as a bin can, it is beautifully finished, the silent, cushioned mechanism wows every time I press the pedal... no hideous metallic clang! Its useful deep but narrow shape perfectly fits the space I have in the kitchen and provides loads of rooms for days of kitchen rubbish (as well as anything else anyone wants to jetisson when passing—kitchen bins can fill fast!). It is also very convenient to empty—especially if you use the Simplehuman bags). This is actually the second of these we have owned. Its near-identical predecessor did a fantastic job for 20 years but, being the painted version, eventually became a little too scratched by the children and the hinge finally dislocated—after about 70,000 pedal presses! There is no cooler bin to have. It may be a little pricey but it's worth every penny.

It’s a very good-quality bin; just be aware that the 45L size is quite big and a bit heavy too.

Great design. We have the 30ltr capacity. With the butterfly lid you can keep it under a worktop and have plenty of room to use it.

I saw this bin at a friend;s and had to have one. Hefty price but even Hubby now says it was worth the cost. Swing bins were a pain with the dogs, press and pop up lids a nightmare with a plate of leftovers as you had to take the lid right off. This one looks great. too sturdy for dogs to knock over or get into and it just stays clean! The liners are pricey but they are good quality and a perfect fit. We LOVE it !

This is a brilliant bin - so well-designed and made - and as a replacement for our 10+ year old bin, it has surpassed our expectations. The packaging and delivery were excellent as well. Thank you

This bin is excellent for the space I have - it fits and opens under the counter but is not so low that I have to bend to use it. It is quite large but has a slim profile so doesn't dominate and there's enough room to get a good quantity of both rubbish and recycling into each bin. A wheel at the back would be useful as it's slightly cumbersome to move. The bin bags provided (10) fit well and are sturdy. I am very pleased with the bin but would note that it came with a dent in the side (annoyingly, the side that is visible in the room!). The packaging wasn't damaged at all and the bin was well protected within the box so I can only assume, as other reviewers have commented, that this dent happened in the factory and that it was sent out like that. I'm not going to return it because it seems likely that any replacement might also be dented and it is largely a cosmetic fault. However, this is an expensive item and it should be in perfect condition when sent out and I'm disappointed. I've only had it a week so can't speak to its durability but the only bin to have survived the staff room in my workplace for more than a year is a simplehuman one so I have hopes that this one will last a long time.

La verdad es que estoy muy contenta con el producto por que ocupa poco espacio y es fácil de limpiar. El acero antihuellas es de verdad y simplemente hace falta que le pases un trapo húmero para limpiarlo si se te cae algo en la superfície. Algo a comentar es que además de las bolsas oficiales (que son un poco caras) encontramos unas en el carrefour para cubos altos que funcionan bastante bien (no he encontrado otras que vayan tan bien en otros supermercados) Lo único negativo que puedo comentar es que el primer cubo que me enviaron tenía varios golpes y la superficie vino mal, pero Amazon me realizó el cambio sin problemas y me llegó pocos días después uno en perfectas condiciones.

Never thought I'd spend this much on trash cans, and my husband thought I had gone mad. However, once the 2 cans I ordered arrived securely packed in SimpleHuman boxes and also within larger Amazon boxes (they were massive packages!) and I set them up in the kitchen (one for recycling and one for garbage) we were both convinced I'd made the right purchase. The 13 gallon bags I buy in bulk from Costco or Sam's Club fit fine, but since each can came with 3 packages of sample bags (I think 2 or 3 bags per package), I'm using those for now. I've only had the cans a few days, but so far we really like them--and we only had to take the trash out ONCE in two days! We usually fill up our old can at least twice a day. The butterfly feature is the reason I purchased these particular cans, and the quiet close (they close slowly, they don't slap down!) is very nice. To change the bag, you only have to lift the back of the can and tilt it forward so that it stays propped up a bit, and pull the old bag out. No need to take out the entire plastic liner can. In other words, there is no lifting (other than the actual bag of trash). To keep the top open to peel carrots or whatnot, you just move the metal bars holding each side up into a little grooves and presto!--the can stays open for you. These have a 10 year warranty, for which I plan to register online. I purposely chose not to buy a motion sensor can because there seems to be too much chance it will fail. But these don't have any fancy mechanisms, as far as I can tell, so should hold up pretty well. The reviews seem to suggest this will be the case. The reason we replaced our little $10 plastic under-the-sink open trashcan is because the one year old cat we just adopted kept sneaking in the cabinet and dumping the trash all over the kitchen and dragging it out into the rest of the house! This TOTALLY solved our problem (though somewhat expensively--but that's neither here nor there!). And our recycling was going into an old plastic gallon ice cream tub and had to be taken out several times a day (and was gross to look at). Now we have this HUGE enclosed can and can put everything in there and take it out far less often. Everyone in the family is very happy with these can. So worth the money!!! If you are considering these and they fit your budget (I used birthday money, but I'm a little embarrassed to say this in my thank you note to mom :-), go for it. If all you are looking for is a trashcan, go to Walmart and spend $10-20. But if you want a trashcan that looks good, works really well, holds a lot, fits normal 13 gallon bags and will supposedly last for years, spend the extra bucks and be done with it. You'll be glad you did!
