This is an enjoyable box set with very rare songs. If you are a fan of Michael or the Jackson 5 then this one is for you. It has some very rare songs. Also comes with a sticker booklet and interesting CD sleeves that look like Vynal covers.

This is an absolutely superb collection of previously unreleased gems from the awesome Jackson 5. Very highly recommended! More please Motown!

Everything about this release spells quality, the packaging and of course the music. New Jackson 5 in 2013 - I love it!

Loved the packaging.I think i was expecting too much.i love Motown and J5,i was disappointed with the vinyl record,not everyone has a record player these days and the song on this vinyl is why i bought this cd set in the first place.The set includes unreleased songs and there is a reason for this,however i have only listened once,maybe i will get to like them if i listened often.

Erstaunlich, wieviel Material in den diversen Safes der Musikindustrie schlummert, und wieviel davon posthum von Michael Jackson auf den Markt kommt. Ein besonders feines Collectible ist jetzt die auf nur 4000 Stück limitierte "Come & get it: Rare Pearls"-Box der Jackson 5, bestehend aus zwei CDs, einer Vinyl-Single, einem runden Sticker mit J5-Logo und einem Paperbackbuch. Alles zusammen in einer zweiteiligen Pappschachtel in Vinyl-Single-Größe. Herausgegeben von Hip-O-Select, einem Sublabel von Motown, das sich vor allem um Releases von Re-Issues und Raritäten aus den Motown-Archiven kümmert. Auch von den Jackson 5 gab es schon einige Hip-O-Select-Ausgaben, die fast schon komplett ausverkauft sind, und stolze Preise erzielen. (So gibt es von diesem Label schon "I want you back! Unreleased Masters", "Live at the Forum" und das wahnsinnig funky Doppelalbum "Joyful Jukebox Music/Boogie". Ich bin schwer begeistert von den Songs, die auf den beiden CDs enthalten sind. Unter anderem findet sich darauf eine Demo-Version von "Mama's pearl", bei der zwar schon fast das ganze Instrumental komplett vorlag und eingespielt wurde, aber Michael einen komplett anderen Song singt, als er dann letztendlich ursprünglich veröffentlicht wurde. Auch das Supremes-Cover von "You can't hurry love" zeigt einen ganz unbeschwerten und neuen Ansatz als den bisher bekannten. Auch die Studio-Version von "feelin' alright" unterscheidet sich deutlich von der vorher veröffentlichten. Auf den Songs, die zwischen 1969 und 1974 aufgenommen wurden, kann man Michaels Entwicklung vom Kind zum jungen Mann heraushören (denn die weiterhin hohe Stimme änderte sich durch den Stimmbruch deutlich). Das beiliegende Booklet in Single-Größe zeigt viele farbige und schwarzweiße Fotos der Jackson 5. Hauptsächlich Promofotos aber auch ein paar Bilder von Live-Auftritten sind darin zu finden. Dazu kommt die Trackliste, leider keine Lyrics, und ein mehrseitiger Text von Mark Anthony Neal, Harry Weinger und Deke Richards, der das erste Treffen mit den Jackson-Brüdern und die Zusammenarbeit im Motown-Studio beleuchtet. Mama's Pearl (Demo) Auf der beiliegenden Single sind (noch einmal) die beiden Songs "If the shoe don't fit" und "Feelin' alright" zu finden. Die CDs stecken in Vinyl-Single-großen dünnen Papphüllen, ebenso wie die Vinyl-Single. Leider ist deren Eingriff relativ groß, somit sollte man vorsichtig damit umgehen, damit die Rillen nicht zerkratzen. Alles in allem eine gelungene Box, die ordentlichen Inhalt zum ordentlichen Preis beinhaltet. Die Songs sind sehr gut abgemischt (nur bei der Demo von "Mama's pearl" ist ein Rauschen zu hören, weil hier kein Master sondern nur die private Tonspur Deke Richards vorlag). Ich rate allen Interessierten, Michael-Jackson- und Jackson-5-Fans nicht lange zu zögern und die Box zu ordern. Die Limitierung von 4000 ist zwar leider mangels Nummerierung nicht auf die Box gedruckt, dennoch zeigt meine Erfahrung mit dem Hip-O-Select-Label, dass deren Produkte recht schnell ausverkauft sind - und nur noch zu Sammlerpreisen zu haben sind - wenn überhaupt. Volle fünf Sterne und große Freude bei mir für diese Box. Ich bin mehr als nur begeistert. Hier wurde kein Lückenfüllmaterial versammelt, sondern hervorragende Songs aus den Motown-Archiven veröffentlicht!

J'avoue que quand j'ai reçu ce coffret, je n'en revenais pas. Il est tout simplement exceptionnel ! Magnifique pièce de collection pour tout bon fan de Michael Jackson ou des Jackson 5. Tout le contenu est enthousiasmant et au-delà de nos espérances : - Un superbe coffret en carton (format 45 tours) comme les coffrets vinyls "à l'ancienne"... - Deux CD exceptionnels présentés dans des pochettes au format de 45 tours (excellent !) - Un magnifique livret avec de très belles photos et des explications passionnantes. - Un véritable 45 tours (!) qui reprend deux titres (Génial !) - Et même un autocollant des "J5" pour tout bon fan de l'époque (et d'aujourd'hui aussi !) On aurait pu craindre une ressortie des tiroirs d'anciens titres mal enregistrés (comme on a pu le voir au moins sur deux versions improbables de CD sortis en 2009 que je ne citerai pas ici...) Mais, pour ce coffret, c'est vraiment la qualité qui est au rendez-vous. Les enregistrements sont d'excellente qualité et les titres de très grande classe. On retrouve vraiment l'ambiance de l'époque et on est directement plongé dans cette musique d'un autre temps qui continue à faire le bonheur de ceux qui ne l'ont pas connue à l'époque (comme moi) C'est une vraie redécouverte. Ce n'est pas moins de 29 titres inconnus (véritables perles !) qui nous sont proposés dans des versions d'une qualité exceptionnelle. En bonus, nous avons aussi droit à trois titres déjà connus mais proposés ici dans des versions différentes : versions longues (et complètes) pour "That's How love is" et "If I have to move a mountain" (deux superbes titres) ainsi qu'une version "Mama's Pearl Demo" (super sympa) Beaucoup de titres sont vraiment excellents et auraient mérité de figurer sur un album à l'époque. D'autres sont très intéressants. Petite précision : Ce n'est pas toujours Michael qui est la voix principale sur certains titres mais aucune importance car ils sont aussi excellents que les autres. Les titres sont proposés (il faut le saluer) par ordre chronologique de 1969 à 1973. Tous les titres sont très bons. Mon préféré est "You can't hurry love" (sur le second CD) Mais il y en a beaucoup d'autres de très bons... Bref, ce coffret c'est un vrai bonheur ! A posséder d'urgence pour tout bon fan de Michael ou des Jackson 5. Il complète de façon admirable le CD d'inédits sorti en 2009 "I Want you Back (unreleased Masters)" qui en contenait 9 (+ 3 versions différentes) Attention, ce CD est en tirage limité et ne va pas rester disponible trop longtemps (surtout à ce prix) Indispensable pour les fans ! On pourrai se laisser à rêver à d'autres coffrets de ce style pour des ressorties d'albums mythiques (en particulier ceux de Michael) Une reprise d'un ancien 45 tours (comme à l'époque), un livret, le CD original, un CD d'inédits. Toutefois, comme ce CD est proposé par la Motown, il est peu probable qu'Epic ou Sony aient la même idée lumineuse. Il reste toujours les artistes de la Motown comme Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross et bien d'autres... Ce coffret date de 2012. J'ai pu encore le trouver en 2014 mais ne tardez pas trop... En tout cas, vous ne le regretterez pas !

La carrera musical de Michael Jackson junto a sus hermanos o en solitario es brillante, llena de éxito y producto de un gran talento y enormes sacrificios y duro trabajo. Nadie que se considere fan de tan mítico músico puede tener completa su discografía ni su visión global sin añadir ediciones limitadas y de gran calidad y presentación de aquellas grabaciones inéditas que nunca vieron la luz pero que se concibieron con la misma calidad artística de aquéllos que marcaron un hito en la música a lo largo de cuatro décadas.

Motown released some of the many songs that the Jackson 5 performed. This is definitely a great collection for any Jackson 5 fan or collector. There are 2 CD's and 1 - 45 record album. A beautiful book with many pictures though black and white and the listing of all the songs including the bonus songs on the 45 record album. The shape of the box it all comes in is to accommodate the 45 record album. I do not like the box as it easily opens and is not secure at all. The 2 CD's are in cardboard which could easily scratch so I copied the songs to iPhone and leave the CD's in the box. Now I wish Motown would release some more songs. Is it possible to get enough of the Jackson 5? Not for me, though I freely admit my bias and nostalgia for the ‘70s when the group was regularly topping the charts. Thankfully, there are still numerous unreleased J5 recordings in the vault, and this set proves that many of them are indeed “rare pearls.” Come and Get It was compiled by Deke Richards, the Motown songwriter/producer tapped by Barry Gordy to produce the J5’s first album. In the liner notes Richards tells the story of his first encounter with the group in the summer of 1969, when Gordy drove some of his L.A. staff over to the Daisy Club on Rodeo Drive: “My jaw dropped to the floor. I didn’t know how else to respond to seeing Frankie Lymon, James Brown and Jackie Wilson portrayed by the same little cat at the same time. Was that possible? Was that really possible? I was less than 20 feet away from these five young boys from Indiana, and I can tell you right now: Yes. It was the Gospel Truth. If you ever heard a young entertainer sing his or her heart out once in your life . . . I guarantee you: the experience was nothing like the night I saw Michael Jackson and his four brothers.” And that’s exactly what makes this set compelling: 32 previously unreleased tracks, recorded between 1969-1974, illustrating the maturation of Michael from a frighteningly talented 11-year-old prodigy to a fully seasoned professional at age 16. The songs on each disc are not quite consecutive (care is taken to create a good flow), but disc one primarily consists of tracks recorded from 1969-1971. Highlights include “I Got a Sure Thing” penned by Stax’s Al Bell and Booker T. Jones; a funny cover of Randy Newman’s “Mama Told Me Not to Come;” the Hal Davis produced “Someone’s Standing in My Love Light;” and the studio version of “Feelin’ Alright.” Disc two continues through 1974, the Jackson’s final year on Motown. Stand out tracks include a cover of Holland-Dozier-Holland’s “You Can’t Hurry Love” where Michael demonstrates that he can easily out sing the Supremes; “Keep Off the Grass” written, produced and arranged by Deke Richards; the Hal Davis produced “Let’s Go Back to Day One;” and “Label Me Love” (produced by Clay McMurray) and “Jumbo Sam” featuring Michael without his brothers. The three bonus tracks include the original complete versions of “That’s How Love Is,” “If I Have to Move a Mountain,” and the demo of “Mama’s Pearl,” all produced and arranged by The Corporation (Deke Richards, Freddie Perren, Alphonso Mizell and Berry Gordy). The box set, which is the size of a 7-inch tape reel, includes a 31-page booklet with wonderful archival photos, the two CDs housed in 45-style sleeves, and one Motown 45-rpm disc featuring “If the Shoe Don’t Fit” on the A-side (one of the best tracks on the set) and “Feelin’ Alright” on the B-side (both are also included on the CDs). This compilation is even better than Hip-O’s previous release from 2009, I Want You Back: Unreleased Masters.
