It is warming and does seem to help circulation.
My friend recommended this for sciatica and is having a lot of relief with it. I tried it on my back also for sciatica, but had a reaction to it <very red skin and itchiness for about 30mins> but it quickly ebbed. However I do have sensitive skin normally and my friend hasn't had this problem. I tried it on my ankle for a sprain and to help increase circulation in that area - no reaction there and it works fine.
