This is a Dreadnought Guitar The dreadnought is a type of acoustic guitar body that has become the most common size and shape for acoustic guitars. At the time of its creation in 1916 the word dreadnought referred to a large, all big-gun, modern battleship of the type pioneered by HMS Dreadnought in 1906. With a body much larger than most other guitars at the time, it provided the dreadnought with a bolder, richer, and often louder tone. It is distinguished by its size and square shoulders and bottom. It has stood the test of time with its rich tone and versatility to become the most recognisable steel string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. Key Features The type of tonal wood used to build a guitar body is key to a great sounding instrument. The type of wood used in the neck, fretboard and bridge is also very important in producing a quality guitar that plays well. Here is a list of the carefully selected tonal woods we used to make this guitar with an explanation of the tonal properties you can expect from the guitar listed below. It’s a lovely guitar by the way, very solid, great for learning on, the tone is nice with a set of Martin 10 gauge strings, it’s a robust guitar, you can get a lot of subtlety out of it as well as volume. Definitely worth considering 😊 **Q: I bought this as my first ever Guitar because it contains everything i need apparently! Does it come with spare strings? What type are they?** A: It comes with steel strings plus a spare set. They are a slightly “heavier” gauge (thickness) but you can always change them if you prefer a different type. Be warned about the bridge though as it mine was quite high and this can make play a little uncomfortable even for someone who has been playing the guitar for years! In the box two guitar picks, one set of strings on, one set spare, one guitar strap. Best of luck! **Q: Is the pick guard definitely on the bottom and not on top from a modified right handed guitar?** A: It’s a left hand guitar all right, bridge and neck string holds are aligned correctly for the corresponding strings, and the scratch plate is where it should be on a lefty. **Q: Bought the guitar but it arrived without the bag, spare strings, plectrums etc. How do I contact seller to have these sent on to me?** A: There should be a contact seller option on your order page ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stretton Payne Guitar Company Left hand full size dreadnaught guitar *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 21 May 2015* A good quality guitar at an affordable price. Included in the price is all you need to maintain the guitar, extra strings, two plectrums, and a guitar tuner, alongside a strap and a carrying case. I have been itching to buy a guitar again for a few years now, and when I saw this for sale, and it being a left hand one at that, I just had to buy it, and I am glad that I did, despite it showing me how rusty at playing I have become over the intermediate years. The sound is rich, and the action is just right, and it came fully tuned, if it can maintain it's tuning while being transported across country in the back of a delivery truck, then it should maintain its tuning in a home setting, and that's a good sign. I can only recommend this guitar for anyone who is thinking of buying one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ All you need for an enthusiastic first timer. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 16 November 2018* Fabulous gift for husband's birthday.
