## Description

Upgrade network performance with 10GbE PCIe network card featuring Intel 82599EN chip, supporting single SFP+ ports and compatible with Windows, Linux, and VMware.

Review: Excellent piece of kit! - After a nightmare with Mellanox ConnectX 3 and HP NC552SFP+ cards either not working, incompatible or constantly crashing, I installed this Intel X-520 (82599) based card into my Win11 Gigabyte Z390 system. Finding drivers was a slight mission but once installed, this card worked like a champ. Tested with both DAC SFP+ and OM4 multimode fibre (Using a Mellanox SFP+ transceiver) and it ran consistently - no errors, no disconnections and excellent throughput. Tested with single / contiguous 120Gb files as well as folders containing 100Gb of small (3 & 4Mb) files, I got about 3.5 to 4.5Gbps consistent throughput. Was hoping for a bit more but will next be tweaking stuff like flow control, MTU, Jumbo frames etc. Disk IO is a bottleneck, even using EVO990 Pro NVME drives. I tested direct PC to PC connections using a DAC, then via switch (DAC on PC1, fibre on PC2) using the amazing Sodola 6 port 10Gbe managed switch sold here on desertcart for a ludicrously cheap £65 (as at Aug24). It was OK on crossover but really shone with the SFP switch. Highly recommend this card and really impressed with it. To be fair to Mellanox, their dual SFP+ card is excellent but it seems there's a major compatibility issue between Gigabyte boards (especially Z290/390/490 chipsets) and ConnectX cards. The only time it works is in a 16x PCIe slot. It will NOT work in an 8x slot due to lanes limited to 4. No way I'm dumping my RTX4070 so this 10GTek card came as a huge blessing.
Review: Fantastic speed - works great on Windows 11 - Having been upgraded to Vodafone Full Fibre 910 service, I have been installing OM3 Fibre Optic cables in my house to get this amazing speed to the Windows 11 PCs in various rooms. The card was well packaged and installed easily onto my Aorus X670 motherboard. I also bought the 10Gtek SFP+ transceiver from desertcart to plug into the slot on this Network card. It all works amazingly well! I am now typically getting in excess of 900Mbps on my desktop using this 10Gtekcard. See screenshot. Fow the driver installation on Windows 11, there is a video on the desertcart page. It is not the easiest video to follow - the steps happen very quick - however the needed information is there. I used my video player stop button & rewind a lot to understand what to do. But do perservere - it is worth it!!! Since installation, connection is fast and stable. Very Please!!!

## Features

- Attention: 1) If you use it for Windows11, you should install the Windows 10 driver and follow the direction of "how to set up Windows 11" to set up. 2) The Dell and HPE servers require MCU info matching the host OS; however, this NIC doesn't satisfy. Please contact us before making a purchase.
- NOTE: NON SUPPORT 1.25G SFP; NON SUPPORT HOT SWAPING!
- Controller: Intel 82599EN controller, supports single-root I/O virtualization (SR-IOV) and Intel Data Direct I/O Technology (Intel DDIO) to improve network performance.
- System: Windows Server 2012/2016/2019, Windows7/8/10, Linux, VMware ESX/ESXi 5/6/7, FreeBSD 11/12/13/14, Ubuntu 20/22.
- Spec.: Single SFP+ port, connect to SFP+ modules/DAC/AOC. Full height and low profile bracket for standard computer and servers.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What transceiver for a LAN cable?**
A: Dear customer,

Thanks for your question.

You can choose a 10Gtek Intel compatible 1G SFP RJ45 transceiver or a 10Gtek Intel compatible 10G SFP+ RJ45 transceiver for this 10Gtek Intel X520-DA1 10GbE network card. Please kindly notice if you use a 1G SFP RJ45, the other side should be 1G too. Unfortunatelly, the 10Gtek Intel compatible 1G SFP RJ45 transceiver were just sold out, we'll send some stock in a short time. Here is the link for 10Gtek Intel compatible 10G SFP+ RJ45 transceiver: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071RSC54C?ref=myi_title_dp.

Hope our answer is helpful to you.

Thanks and best regards,
Shirley

**Q: Should i get more than 980mbps: pc to 10 gbe switch sfp+ to pc, both with x520-da1, fast pc's with ssd's**
A: You need to be clear on your units used there. mbps = megabits per second, which would equate to ~98 megabytes per second, which you could achieve with a single hard drive let alone an SSD.
A topology like you quote would be able to get to 980 MegaBYTES per second, yes. 980 MB/s (or thereabouts) is the limit of 10gig ethernet anyway, so I doubt you'd get quicker unless you ran two connections to each PC and to the switch (and the switch had enough fabric to cope)

**Q: What cable / transceiver do i need to contect this to a ubiquiti unifi us-48-750w switch?**
A: Hi,

That switch has SFP ports so you will need an INTEL compatible SFP that works with the card like the below, you will then need an LC to LC fibre patch cable to link the devices.

SFP:

Patch Cable:

Have Fun

**Q: Do you know if that will work on Dell Precision T7600?**
A: Hello, thanks for your question about this 10Gtek® for Intel X520-DA2 dual SFP+ ports 10G network card. What’s your operating system? If your operating system can be supported by this card, then yes this card would work on Dell Precision T7600.

Hope our answer can help you.

Thanks and best regards,
Belinda

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A good choice with optical transceivers
*by A***Y on 22 December 2025*

I bought this adapter a couple of years ago and haven't had to think about it since which is defintely a good thing. I seem to remember having a slight faff getting the driver installed on Windows 11 but, having done so, I inserted a 10Gtek optical transceiver I already had and connected my PC to my Zyxel 10Gb switch with a 10ft length of fibre. It runs cool and, being fanless, is absolutely silent. I have slightly better than 1Gb internet and I get full speeds all of the time. The reason I'm reviewing this now is because I'm thinking about replacing my NAS with a 10Gb-capable model and while reviewing my kit realised I hadn't done so. So, if you have a router or switch with an SFP+ port, this is a good choice if using optical modules. I'd steer clear of copper RJ45-style transceivers since, in my limted experience, these can run blisteringly hot so need to be actively cooled.
