Aesthetic Portable Computer Mounted External Hard Drive and Hub Holder to Organize Laptop Workspace and Declutter Cable with Lock System (1 DriveSlide (Black))

I have been a wedding photographer for 13 years, and have only been introduced to this lifesaving product in the last 4 months. My life has been forever changed but not having to juggle holding my laptop and the external hard-drive all at the same time. (Don't tell anyone that I'm irresponsible and have also tried to hold my coffee while juggling the other two). It is so insanely easy to use. You take it out of the box, decide where you want it to go on your laptop, and stick it in. Then you do the same with your external drive. Attach and go. It's really that easy. And this little gadget secures the hard drive well. Trust me, you'll never know true stress until you've got wedding photos on a hard-drive that you *must protect at all costs* because somebody's "best day ever" exists on there and you're the only person who holds these precious memories, until you are holding one of these hard drives in your hand while moving your laptop. One drop and you're DOOMED. Having this DriveSlide reduces my anxiety around the safety of the drive immensely.

It's functional. It's happened to the best of us: On the go set, you forget your externals are plugged in, walk away, there they are tangling. I want to protect my investment, a must-have in your camera bag. Similar to the quick-release connector used on hoses. My favorite part is that it locks in when you slide into the receiver and rotate it 45 degrees. My only dislike is that not all surfaces are equal, and the adhesive backing may or may not be strong enough to hold. For example, I have a 13" MBP with a Plastic Hard Shell Case Cover. Initially, the 3m adhesive tape did not hold. After a second cleaning of the placement area, it held in place. So far, so good. The sleeve that slides into the holder's adhesive backing does not hold depending on the surfaces to which it is applied. For example, the rubber surface of a SanDisk portable SSD has a smooth, slick, rubbery texture, and the 3m tape will not hold onto that type of surface. I have the remedy; the well-trusted Velcro strips solved the issues.

I use this to mount my external SSD to the side of my Xbox, since I was tired of it dangling behind it and occasionally getting knocked around. It works flawlessly and is easy to install. Paired with a short USB cord, it makes for a sleek and clutter free method of protecting external drives from cord strain and mishaps. (Especially important for hard drives with moving parts) The adhesive is strong, so I advise making absolutely sure you have it where you want it and lined up straight before sticking it to the surface. It’s a pricier way of doing this than just using adhesive yourself but with how reliable and low profile it is, I say it’s still less than a replacement drive.

Absolutely Not Worth $20, not even $1! This is something that’d you see at the dollar store and even if I bought it from there, you’d be disappointed. I paid TWENTY dollars expecting a decent-quality hard drive holder that attaches to the back of a laptop, something metal or at least sturdy plastic. What showed up was flimsy, cheap plastic that feels like it could snap in half just being handled. The packaging was poor, tiny box with just the so called “mount” that uses tiny little stickers that i’ll tell you now, DONT stick. I followed the directions, attached it to my laptop, went to slide my hard drive in, and the entire thing just came off immediately. Then when I tried to put it back it just slide around and scratched my laptop case. Then, the slider on the hard drive fell off as well. As a photographer, having my hard drive around all the time is not only convenient it’s a necessity. And loosing it is not an option. Absolutely a waste of money and time. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Save yourself the frustration, and loosing ur gear. don’t buy this.

Exactly what I was looking for. I use it with a LaCie rugged 2TB hard drive. I would recommend getting more than one if you have more than one hard drive.
