Easy to administer, lasts a long time, showed improvement in ~2 weeks
Our 16-year old neutered male cat Cosmo had a respiratory crisis a few years ago that landed him in an emergency center; he was resucitated twice and his heart and adrenal system took a real beating. Events like that can disbalance the endocrine system for any mammal, and he never really got back to 100% after that. Over time he put on a lot of weight, developed a poor coat with copious dandruff and seemed to find brushing painful, and had very little energy, as well as developing joint problems and weakness (falling off of things he normally could jump up onto, or not being able to get there at all). He also developed an obsession with drinking water and pestered us to run taps for him and fill cups to put on the floor, even though we have a filtered fountain which we keep clean and which he had always used. Although the vet couldn't find anything in the bloodwork, I did some research and found that Cushex seemed to match up well with his symptoms. Having had a pretty good experience with treating our cats naturopathically, I decided to give this a try since it's low-risk and relatively low cost. PetAlive's formulas come in many different dispensations, including alcohol tinctures (which must be pretreated before giving to cats), tiny pellets, small dissolvable tablets, and others. This formula is glycerin based and flavorless. Cosmo has limited but open access to dry food, so it would be hard to know how much he was getting if I put the drops on his food. To administer, I put three dry (absorbent) treats in the palm of my hand, drop Cushex on them (about five drops since some is lost on my palm), and turn the treats over until they're well coated. He eats them greedily, and gets this twice a day. It is easy to do, which is a relief compared to other remedies I have to apply to my brood of aging kits. After about two weeks of this, his dandruff started improving, he began tolerating brushing better, and his drinking behavior returned to normal. He also seems to be feeling better overall. It has now been a little over two months of treatment. We have just discovered that he has tapeworms, and we don't know how long this has been going on since it's easy to miss. I suspect it has been part of the gradual downturn that started about 6 months ago. Certainly having the parasites treated (the vet gave him an injection that addresses both known species) will improve his condition much further, and besides that, some of the ingredients in Cushex are also useful for parasites, so it may have been helping to curtail or compensate for this condition over the last two months. I expect his weight to improve as well once he is clear of the parasites (for now it has stayed the same). As for value, although the initial outlay may seem a little pricey for a remedy that may or may not work for your pet's condition, after over two months of using a little more than the recommended full daily dose for pets under 20 lbs (remember my method incurs more waste than trying to drop it directly into the cat's mouth), the bottle is only half done. This suggests three bottles a year at full dosage, and in most cases once improvement is steady you can reduce to maintenance doses. For situations where you feed your pet twice a day and they are sure to clean the bowl in one serving, you can probably just drop the dosage right on top of the food. I'd like to add that after Cosmo's respiratory crisis, instead of putting him on daily cortisolone indefinitely which was stressful for everyone and which he did not well tolerate, I used PetAlive's AmazaPet tablets to very good effect in the months following the event. He wasn't crazy about getting any pill put in his mouth but did not object to the flavor and it was effective at keeping his lungs clear. Gradually I tapered off and only administer this when I hear his breathing sounding ragged. Some of the ingredients of Cushex also support respiratory health, and I suspect this is why he has not had ragged breathing sounds since he has been on it. It's worth giving PetAlive remedies a try, if your pet's condition is not yet serious or if conventional vet treatments are not doing enough. Do consult with your vet; most will not object too much to the idea of supplemental therapies like these.

Miracle Drops!
Miracle Drops! Our diabetic 20lb Doxie was having some rough evenings/nights. He wanted to drink a lot (even tho his blood sugar was normal from insulin), he was peeing a lot, and panting a lot. It was hard for us to get a good night's sleep since he sleeps with us...and we was getting up about 4-5 times per night to pee (and panting for water). Bought this in early Dec (paid for one day delivery because we were desperate!) and immediately started using it. He only needs 6-7 drops ...either twice a day or 3 times per day. At first, gave it 3 times per day, but as we got busy, we now only give in AM and PM before meals. The difference is amazing. The first couple of nights, we saw "some" improvement. By the end of the week, we saw huge improvement. Drinking far less water, peeing much less, and panting nearly completely gone...very rare. He's much happier....and so are we (more rest!!) Since he's diabetic, he's also on a low carb diet.... Mostly just protein, a bit of fat, and only complex carbs. I use Fresh Pet. This is to minimize the insulin that he needs. Older dogs also sometimes have digestion (gas bubbles) issues, so in the evenings, I will put Sammy on his back for a tummy rub, but also to apply some clock-wise pressure on his lower abdomen. I often feel the gas bubbles move and he's very happy after that...often goes right to sleep. the large intestines work in a clockwise fashion, so starting around 7:00 on his very-lower-abdomen, I apply pressure hold a couple of seconds (often feel bubbles immediately) and slowly move "around the clock" ending around 4:00...and repeat. (12:00 is around the belly button) The "clock image" is when you are sitting at the bottom of your dog, with his head furthest away from you. You will feel the gas bubbles move, and often HEAR the gas bubbles move. I've never experienced any "smell" when doing this. Cushex S ingredients What are the ingredients? Cushex Drops-S is a 100% herbal formula and contains the following ingredients in therapeutic dosage: Dandelion, Burdock, Astragalus. Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) is well-known as a supporter for the liver, kidneys and adrenal glands and will help to support normal adrenal functioning. Dandelion also contains vitamins and minerals important for hair health and growth and has been studied for its antioxidant activities (Hu, C. and Kitts, D. D. “Antioxidant, prooxidant, and cytotoxic activities of solvent-fractionated dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) flower extracts in vitro.” J Agric.Food Chem. 1-1-2003; 51(1):301-310). Burdock (Arctium lappa) is a cleansing and eliminating herb and is excellent at cleansing the tissues and supporting waste removal from the body (Shimizu, J., Yamada, N., Nakamura, K., Takita, T., and Innami, S. “Effects of different types of dietary fiber preparations isolated from bamboo shoots, edible burdock, apple and corn on fecal steroid profiles of rats.” J Nutr Sci Vitaminol. (Tokyo) 1996; 42(6):527-539). Burdock is also traditionally recommended for maintaining blood sugar levels already within the normal range and has been investigated for its ability to support health. Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceous) is an herb which has been used for many centuries as a revitalizing herb. Astragalus is known as an adaptogen and helps to support balance in the adrenal glands. It helps to maintain healthy adrenal cortical function and is important for supporting blood pressure and blood sugar levels already within the normal range. Recent research confirms the positive effect of Astragalus in supporting the immune system. Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) has a long history of being used to help with cortisol levels and for its liver protecting and immune balancing effects. Eleuthero root (Eleutherococcus) is commonly just referred to as ‘Eleuthero’ and is highly respected and prized as a natural energy tonic to support energy, circulation, and natural vitality and to act as an overall systemic supporter. Eleuthero is comparable to Ginseng and is an excellent supportive tonic for healthy adrenal hormones. It has also been shown to have anti-stress, anti-inflammatory and liver protecting properties.

Amazing Results In Just A Short Time
Our 14 y/o chihuahua mix had all the symptoms of Cushings (we couldn't afford to officially diagnos it nor could we afford the treatments if she tested positive for it). I had spent months of getting up every couple of hours to take her to the bathroom, or give her more water because she drank a whole bowl full. Her condition was affecting my sleep cycle which was causing me to be moody and making it hard to concentrate at work. I remember laying in bed 2 weeks ago at 3am, crying to my husband about how exhausted I was and how I couldn't do this anymore. I hated the idea of putting our babygirl down, but in my frustration I told my husband we may not have any other options. We rent an apartment and her situation has literally RUINED the carpets here. I'm afraid how much it's going to cost us to fix when we move out, and it's embarrassing when people visit and get a whiff of the carpets (after hundreds of dollars having them professionally cleaned, using the best carpet cleaners for spot treatments, oder removers, etc. - nothing has taken the smell out completely). I remembered reading about this product and going through the reviews when I googled holistic options. Up until that point I had been on the fence about ordering them since money was tight. That night, at 3am I placed an order to have the drops RUSHED to our house. They got there less than 48 hours later and I started her on the drops immediately. It was 2 weeks ago. After a few days I noticed she was a lot more restful. Not pacing as much searching for every last crumb on the floor. Her coat became softer too, and she had an odd odor about her before I began the drops which went away a few days after I started her. Now, almost two weeks later, she has lost weight, her pot belly looks smaller, her coat is smoothers and hair is coming back in, she doesn't make snorting or weird breathing noises anymore (in fact, right now she is sleeping next to me and it's so quiet I can hear a pin drop- normally she'd be snoring like an old man or have labored/heavy breathing). Also, her energy level is up more (not playful but she doesn't sleep as much). And the best of all, she SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT at least 5 out of every 7 nights - and when she does wake up at night it's only once. The most shocking moment was one night when I took her to the bathroom and she walked past her water dish (which was full) and didn't stop! I couldn't believe it. Normally she'd pee and they go straight to the dish and drink all the water in it. I'm just so happy now because things don't seem hopeless for her anymore. These drops have given her a much better quality of life and I can't thank this company enough. But most of all, thank you to everyone who was nice enough to come on here and write reviews. I read through all of them and they gave me the confidence to try this product out and I am SO glad I did. If your dog has Cushings or you suspect they have it- get these drops. Even if you can afford the medicine, these are a much safer solution to keeping your pet from suffering. Also, one thing we did too was change her food to Blue Buffalo- which I read was the healthiest pet food option for the dogs. This in part also probably helped with things like her softer coat and losing a little weight. So make sure their diet is healthy too!

Most likely a placebo--please do not use as substitute for actual treatment
It's a placebo drug. I've been using it for two months and I see no results, the Cushing's symptoms still persist and they are getting worse. I was at first puzzled by all the positive reviews but, reading them now I can see it's a classic case of placebic delusion. Many positive reviews for this snake oil have statements like the following: "I notice some improvement!" "It seems like it's making a difference!" "Pants less!" "Water intake decreased!" None of these have been verified. Have you measured precisely the amount of water your dog drinks on average and then noticed a steady and maintained decrease in water intake? How has your dog improved exactly? Can you scientifically verify this? Why qualify the supposed efficacy of this product with "it seems to work"? When people are looking for a cure, when they put their faith into something which advertises itself as that cure, the convenient answer to their situation--an inexpensive all natural miracle drug with no side effects--they often will fall into confirmation bias. Perhaps your dog seems perkier on a given day, perhaps they drank less water today than the day before, perhaps their coat looks a little shinier on Thursday as opposed to Tuesday. All of these anecdotal observations begin to fulfill an unconscious wish and affirm an underlying bias. Products like these are ineffective and dangerous. Your dog is suffering and to use ineffective placebos as a substitute for real treatment won't better your pet's condition, it will just put you at psychological ease while your dog continues to remain sick and untreated. For kicks I'm still administering this product to my dog. I have not seen any improvement but perhaps, if graced by some miracle, something might happen.

Definitely worth it
I am a very skeptical person and didn't have much hope for this product but I had few alternatives. My husband has been furloughed for over a year and to say money is tight, is an understatement. We had been using Lysodren and it was working well as far as her drinking, urinating in the house and getting up at night but not totally. The adverse effect was that she seemed weak and not herself. We couldn't afford to pay for it anymore and she went totally off it. After that my dog was getting up about 5x a night to urinate until I started feeding her in the morning and only giving her a light snack in the evening. I have no idea if that would work for all Cushings dogs but that made a TREMENDOUS difference, she was sleeping through the night until about 6 am. I still had the urinating problem and so I tried this product. I truly think she became more active and happy. The drinking and urinating decreased a lot, but not totally. She is sleeping through the night. I have only had her on it one month and not sure I am giving her enough. I still have 1/4 of the bottle left, so maybe not enough. The bottom line is the Lysodren made it easier on me as far as the drinking and urinating in the house but this product seems to be better for her. I am not sure how much this product helped with getting up at night, again the biggest difference for that was "no food at night".

Like anything else, different people will likely experience different results...........
...but for what it's worth, here's what my experience was. My 13 year old shih-tzu was diagnosed earlier this year with Cushings disease. The vet prescribed Vetoryl, but after he had been taking it for a few weeks, he began displaying symptoms of "crashing" (vomiting, diarrhea, listlessness, loss of fur from his tail, weight loss resulting from loss of appetite) that the vet had warned about. It got so bad that he was throwing up almost everything he ate. The vet then prescribed a steroid to give him when he "crashed" from the Vetoryl. After a couple of weeks of watching my little guy suffer through this, I decided that his quality of life was not what he wanted, and made the decision to take him off the prescription meds. While searching the internet for a more natural treatment for the Cushings, I ran across some reviews of the Cushex Drops and decided to give it a try before simply letting nature take its course and placed an order with Amazon. I started him on the drops the first week in May. As soon as I took him off the prescription meds, his nausea and diarrhea symptoms improved. A few weeks after starting him on the drops, I noticed his energy level coming back up and the fur on his tail began to thicken. He's about to finish the first bottle of the drops and I have a second bottle in hand. I can't say for sure that the Cushex drops are responsible for the improvement in Kenny's condition, but I can say that his condition began to improve shortly after I began giving them to him and that his condition 4 months after stopping the vetoryl and starting the drops is greatly improved. He is no longer displaying any of the symptoms (panting, drinking copious amounts of water, frequent urination) that led me to have him tested for Cushings in the first place. His spirits are good again and come meal time, he is once again tracking me down and demanding to be fed. :) If you do decide to try this product, I hope you'll experience similar results. There's nothing worse than watching your best friend suffer. I know.

1st Time Cushex user.
9/2/11-I just started my almost 14 yr. Old Lab. Mix on Cushex after a week of research on everything from Vetoryl to Supragland! I've chosen Cushex after researching the ingredients & liking what I've read! About 4 years ago (at 10 yrs old) Simba had somehow gotten a pinched nerve in his spine about the lower shoulder blade area. Simba was walking funny with his hind legs, like he was drunk! The longer you wait to take care a "nerve" that's pinched the more damage is done! After a $5,000 surgery, Simba could walk again but quite a bit staggered from nerve damage! Now 4 years later he most likely has Cushings! With the previous nerve damage & loss of muscle now in his hind legs, walking is not an option now! I took Simba to the vet, and they took x-rays where you can clearly see the intestines distended . After the vet mentioned possible Cushings disease, I realized that all the signs and symptoms matched what Simba has! Simba has had a pot belly for about a year now (1st symp.), has started to drink and pee like a madman for about a month now and has weakened quickly over that period to not being able to get up on his own at all! The muscles in Simbas hind legs have gotten so thin & weak over the past 6 months. Dark Discolored spots have appeared on Sim's abdomen in the last month as well as patches of hair loss on his back, and they are sometimes scabby! Yesterday was the first time he refused to eat in the morning! Today is the first time I'm seeing Sim shake and constantly stretching. I've read, I think, just about all the reviews On-line about Cushex and Supragland! I'm writing a this detail because while reading some of these reviews I had wished they told more at times, so that's what I'm doing here! I'm doing this from my I-Phone while I lay on the floor with Simba, please excuse my writing & being all over the place with my story! So again, today I just started Simba ( 13.5 yrs., Lab mix, 100lbs)'on 10 drops, 2-3x's /day of Cushex. I plan on doing that for the 1st week then bring it down to 8 drops at the same rate for the rest of the bottle! I would like to have Simba on Cushex for at least a month+ before I start making opinions about Cushex. I will add to my review whenever there are changes of any kind! I did not get Simba tested to confirm Cushings, ( $ tapped out because I'm injured & seeing Doctors at this time as well). My biggest issue is the drugs the vet would have Simba on, I don't like them. Weighing the pros & cons; all-in-all, Simba's just too old to be put on any of those medicines; so I will do my best to make the right choices for Simba the best way I know how & at the times those chioces have to be made

Miracle Drops! So thankful.
I am feeling compelled to write a review even though it has only been 2 weeks and we don't know what the future will bring but I have to say that I am feeling like the drops are miracle drops at this point. I did not have a complete diagnosis of cushings as it was very expensive but my dog, Jack, was showing all of the classic signs....panting, frequent urination, accidents in the house, always hungry, calcium spots on his skin. His panting was non-stop and driving me crazy (I felt so bad for him). He sleeps at the end of my bed and the whole bed would shake with his panting and this continued most of the night, along with pacing and constant anxiety. He is only 9 years old. My vet told me the treatment for cushings was about $180 per month and regular blood work would be needed as well. In desperation I started searching for alternative treatment and ordered the cushex drops. By the time they arrived, I wasn't sure I would even try them as I was worried about negative reaction. Anyway, his panting was so severe one night that I gave it a try. That night he slept like a baby...so weird that it has some affect so soon. This gave me hope and I kept up with about 7 drops morning and night on his food. By the end of the first week, the panting was almost gone. It came back intermittently but certainly not as often. Now 2 weeks have passed and he is not drinking nearly as much, his spots have cleared up and he only pants at normal times when out for a walk. He is back to laying on the couch with me in the evenings, relaxed and at peace (He had been laying by the front door and barking at everything in sight). His anxiety is pretty much gone. I can't say enough good things about these drops and have ordered 2 more bottles to keep me going for the next few months. I am praying every day that this keeps working. It is a mystery why it doesn't work for everyone but it is definitely worth a try if your dog has cushings. I feel I caught it at early stages and maybe that is why it worked so quickly.

Cushex works!
One of our guinea pigs lost most of her fur. After visits to the vet, injections and treatment for mites had no effect, the vet thought "Cushings". He stated there was no treatment for guinea pigs. Having found Cushex I have been giving her three drops morning and night. She has been much better. The lumps on her skin and swollen belly have disappeared and her hair is regrowing! Thanks Cushex

Good product
Seems to be helping, not sure if it's the drops the organic home cooked diet or a combination of the two but my Schnauzers elevated liver enzymes have come down by more than half in 6 months! The vet was amazed! I also give him Sam-e, vitamin E and Milk Thistle daily.
