When you find what metal is added to the stainless heat it to that degree and then air cool. Never quench after heating or you will make it hard.

what kind of line material can i use? Copper, Steel?

This tool will easily flare copper or steel. Copper is not approved for brake lines. There is a copper looking alloy available that is very easy to work with.
