The Pictorial Atlas of Acupuncture not only provides beginners with an overview of the most important acupuncture points, but experienced practitioners can also extend their knowledge. The combination of Chinese sources and the authors' therapeutic experiences provides a sensible balance between the most important indications and practical needs. Review: Beautiful! - This book is an atlas of acupuncture points. As such it gives information about its subject matter sufficient to reach a basic understanding of the meridians and their points. But it is more than that. It is beautifully illustrated, a veritable work of art. Illustrations include photographs and drawings, making it an anatomical atlas of the body surface. It is obvious that the illustrator and photographer were dedicated to their work and I'd predict that it will in time become a classic. Review: Excellent reference manual - even for the amateur - Although the index could have been made into a useful tool (which it isn't) still giving this book 5 stars! You will see 3 different ways to identify and find each acupuncture point along its meridian. The authors and editors even give you their "principal acupuncture points"; Acupuncture Measurements; Needle Techniques (which I don't use, instead using the Pointer Excel II which I also bought on desertcart!). This really is a very thorough manual that lists ever point, and makes it easy to locate them for the user. As for the weak index, the authors could have easily done a search for all points that "clear heat" for example and made that an index entry. Instead, you have to gather that data on your own - which I am doing. It will take me hours to compile that in an Excel doc, but it will be searchable. The authors could have done that very easily and made their book that much more useful. But, it is so useful and so well done, I couldn't bring myself to give it 4 stars in spite of the useless index.

Great Information
This book is really helpful! I’m a massage therapist who loves TCM modalities like fire cupping and acupressure/shiatsu. I wanted to brush up on some of the acupressure/acupuncture points. Some of the information I found online was conflicting and to add to the confusion some points on certain meridians can appear in close proximity to other points on other meridians. This book does a great job depicting the specific locations of each point and differentiating them from others. Thank you, I would recommend this book.

A very good book even for non professional
A very good book even for non professional. Each Acupuncture point comes with 3 pictures - one picture shows the muscle and bones where the acupuncture point is located, one picture shows the location of the point on the skin with the path and the nearby points, and one picture shows the angle of the needle being placed on the location. Very clear. In the description section of each point, it also gives warning for people whose condition does not fit to be needled in that acupuncture point, such as pregnant woman etc. it also indicates the illnesses associated with each point. I actually think that every family should have one of this book for health maintenance by using the non needle tools and even for acupressure. I have bought one acupuncture book specifically for dogs for treating my dogs, and this book is for treating myself. (Edit June 2017) : I knocked 1 star off. I still think it is a good book, particularly the pictures indicating the location of each point are quite clear. However, there are 3 things that I don't like very much: 1). If this book is for non professionals( that is what I think), this book should have used the non medical terms for readers' easy understanding. Now, I have to look up the dictionary very often. 2) sometimes the point of needle on the skin is not clear because the needle is to thin to be visible. Only the cap of the needles are clearly seen. I am thinking it should have used the Photoshop to highlight the body of the thin needle. 3) I wondered why real persons were used as models in the sensitive area instead of using the medical mannequins as models. I can't share with other people when I find an interesting point because of the embarrassment. Therefore, I have not recommended this book to anyone.

Priceless Reference Book
I bought this 8 - 10 years ago while taking an acupressure class The instructor was very impressed by the quality of the book. What I have found most helpful is the four ways given for locating each point. Points are described first verbally. There are two photographs. One shows the needle in place. The other has an overlaid diagram of the point in its energy channel with related points. A third shows the point in relation to underlying bone and muscle. It is not organized well for diagnosis, though conditions which may be treated by stimulation of each point are listed. I successfully used this book to self treat long term serious medial collateral ligament knee pain and instability. I was wearing a large, heavy knee brace. My femur was actually slipping off my tibia while climbing stairs. To treat the pain, I searched for any energy channel going through the medial knee. Spleen 9 seemed like it might help from its description. This book made it easy to find. After one acupressure treatment, my pain was greatly improved. Even better than that, my knee was SO much more stable. That was 3-4 years ago. I have never had to wear the brace again.

Real easy to use
I am a seasoned acupuncturist (43 years). I got this book to reference for a potential associate. It is clear and concise, and with 2 views for each point, point location accuracy is simple. It includes extra points as well, which I use often. I have now purchased 3 of these books - 1 for me at the office, 1 for home and one for a potential associate. It wasn't as expensive as most acupuncture books and is perfect for my needs. Very happy.

A great visual encyclopedia of acupuncture points.
I absolutely love the illustrations. The introduction teaches you how to make measurements on yourself or some one you might be working on. I have only had informal training and only use acupuncture on myself for release of sinus pressure and neck pain. I have had a professional teach me how to perform the very specific acupuncture points I require. This book is not a substitute for professional training or atlas education by a professional to address specific needs. I do feel fairly comfortable in making the measurements to locate specific points, but not comfortable enough to use the knowledge in the book without professional guidance. My acupuncturist also feels this is a really great book.

Treating illness and pain with the information in this book
I've loved this book for over 10 years. My other copy was packed in a box and stored in a "Pod", and then I had a major stroke. I'm just new re-building my library. I use this book in conjunction with an Avazzia micro-current device. This book helps me find the proper acupuncture points and meridians to treat. This book is AWESOME! I love it!🌟
