SONOFF ZBMINIL2 Extreme Zigbee Smart Light Switch (2 Way), Works with Alexa, SmartThings Hub, Google Home&SONOFF ZBBridge-P, ZigBee Hub Required, No Neutral Required

I got this to smarten up a light switch in my old house. I tried a dedicated smart switch from the same manufacturer first, but the electrical boxes behind my light switches were physically too narrow for it to fit inside. This little relay, on the other hand, was tiny enough to fit behind my existing light switch. Installation was easy enough. Trim excess wire off of the existing wire connected to your switch, so that there is no exposed copper when you attach the wires to the relay. The live wire goes in the "Load In" terminal, the other one goes in Load Out. Then wire the relay to your existing switch with the S1 and S2 terminals. (I harvested wire from an old computer power cable for this.) This is a Zigbee relay, so you will need some sort of Zigbee coordinator/hub in order to operate it. I had no trouble connecting it to my existing Zigbee network in Home Assistant using ZHA. Once set up, you can control it either via your Zigbee network or with the old physical switch. Do your research before using this. I've been advised to not use this with inductive loads, such as fluorescent lights.

This sensor seems to work flawlessly, it connects to Home Assistant instantly as long as you have a good zigbee network in your dwelling. The wiring diagram can be a little confusing if you are not used to reading them. However most people that deal with Home Assistant can manage the install.

I bought this little box without knowing for certain if it would do what I wanted it to do. I put some smart wafer lights in my kitchen ceiling, but they do not respond to my SmartThings commands if the double-pole light switch they are connected to is switched off. I was hoping the installation of this switch would remotely turn the switch on and enable the lights to still work. When I first got this thing, I chickened out of installing it in this switch because I wasn't 100% confident I understood the wiring diagram, and I wasn't even sure it would do what I wanted it to do even if it was installed properly. So it stayed unused for about 6 weeks until I got the bright idea to use it on a single-pole switch that operated a track light over the kitchen sink that predated my foray into SmartThings connectivity. I still battled my insecurities about the wiring diagram but proceeded anyway, connecting the wires as I best understood it. When I powered the circuit back on, I could tell I had done it right because every time I touched the test button on the Sonoff module, the lights went from on to off or vice versa. But after downloading the recommended app (eWeLink) on my smartphone, I could not get the module to be recognized. With SmartThings, there is compatibility with other apps, so once you get the native app to recognize the device, you can import it into SmartThings. Anyway, I tried a number of times to initialize the module so the eWeLink app could connect, but never succeeded. Finally out of desperation, I opened up my SmartThings app and initiated the Add Device command, and it recognized it almost immediately. So now I can control these track lights through SmartThings. And the wild thing is that the single-pole wall switch now behaves like a double-pole switch. If you want to turn the lights on by activating the wall switch, you simply flick the switch up if it's down, or down if it's up. The "on" and "off" label embossed on the toggle is no longer relevant.

This switch is awesome. No neutral needed. Extremely small. Only problem is that the terminals are just pressure fitted to the PCB. So if your outlet box is anything like... every outlet box I've ever encountered with solid CU wiring it's really hard to mash it back into the box without destroying it. The terminals should be soldered to the PCB and it would be 5 stars. You have to be really really really delicate with something that's almost impossible to be delicate with. Especially something that you don't want getting loose and starting a fire from arcing. I would recommend a re-design with pigtails. I assume Philips also is blocking it, but making this Friends of Hue device would also make this a 6 star product. As-is you have to connect via a third party Zigbee hub and tie in the compatibility using Home Assistant which is super clunky for people in the Hue ecosystem.

Seems to require a load for the sensor to be powered to pair. sOK just weird.

After several months I finally gave up on this as a remote relay at the light switch. It disconnects from the hub and doesn’t respond to remote commands consistently. I went with a ZEN 51 instead.

It was easier to hook up than I expected. The old regular dub switch actuates the device instantly, which is nice, I was expecting a little lag. No problems with loosing power, it reconnects very quickly and reliably. Recommended.

Ok Ill start with Sonoff is not my favorite brand. When this smart home stuff started to take off years ago I tried Sonoff devices a few times with disastrous results. Never got any of their devices to work. Fast forward 7 /8 years and I can tell you I have multiple smart home devices, its like I live on the star ship enterprise. I have had this one light that was wired with the neutral inside the ceiling box vs in the wall box behind stone tile and a scrolled ceiling with no attic space. So, without punching holes and snaking wire down to the wall box was not an option. The best option I had at the time was a smart bulb but the switch would always have to be in the on position. My wife hates Alexa so she would always use the switch to shut off the light. Thus, defeating the purpose. While recently searching for something entirely else on Amazon I came across this Sonoff mod which claimed no neutral wire is required. I decided to try it and For all technical purposes it works and seems to be working well. But there are a few things you should know. 1: The wire diagram is wrong. The diagrams show 2 options which appeared to me as a 3way or single pole options. My light was a single pole thus it’s the way I wired it at first according to there directions. This worked by voice command but the switch would not work. After studying it a little better I decided to add the extra wire from the switch to the mod and sure enough it worked. Full control by the switch as well voice control. 2: The directions are printed so small I had to take a screen shot and blow it up to read them. 3: The biggest issue was the mod would not pair with there own app, e-welink or Smartlife. This has always been the case for me with Sonoff and is why I don’t use them. I can tell you I am extremely good at it and Sonoff is so very bad at the setup/pairing process. I cant say anything about the quality of the device because it’s my first one that actually works. 4: I got it to pair directly to Alexa echo plus (zigbee) instantly when I tried it just by chance. The directions Sonoff gives did not work for me and there was no mention of using Alexa echo plus for pairing. Pros: It works. No neutral wire required. Cons: Directions are printed too small. Use your cell camara to enlarge. Wire diagram is incorrect but if you no electrical you can figure it out fairly easy. Pairing with the app they recommend to use, e-welink does not work nor did Smartlife which I was hoping would work as Smartlife is my go-to app. Use Alexa echo plus by means of discovery.

I bought this about a year ago to convert the switch on the outside of my bathroom to a smart switch. I have no neutral wire, so this was obviously the no-neutral version! As you can see in the details, this is a really small device and fitted nicely behind the switch in a 35mm back box. The instructions are fairly clear and it's straightforward to wire up. Its a Zigbee device and once installed, it connected seamlessly with home assistant. I used ZHA on a sonoff 3.0 USB dongle plus. As it has no neutral, it doesn't work as a Zigbee router, so won't work to extend your Zigbee mesh. All in all a great product that has allowed me to convert a dumb switch to a smart one. In addition, the physical dumb switch remains functional which keeps the luddites in my family happy too!

Personalmente l'ho integrato senza il minimo sforzo in Home Assistant, ma è pienamente compatibile anche con gli hub di Alexa e Google Home.
