Great grass with little work...
I had roughly seven 10x15 foot areas of my yard that needed seeding. I tried grass seed from my local hardware store where they had their own special mix and some generic brands. That grass only lasted a year before it died. I then tried this Scotts high traffic mix seed. Wow, it did work great! These areas now look better than my old grass. The special coating on each seed really does work well. Many years ago, I was a landscape foreman and was leery about the coated seed just being a gimmick. However, the coating seemed to help tremendously. I did not do anything special when I applied the seed. I typically add hay and peat moss, rake it in, and etc. But I was lazy when this seed arrived, so I just threw it on the yard and watered it once a day, nothing else. I even missed a few days of watering because I was busy with other stuff. Low-and-behold, this seed came through with charm and has become very lush and deep green while my old grass is a little on the brown side. It took this seed about 8 days to germinate and I was mowing it in another 14 days after that. I highly recommend this seed since it can be neglected a little and still grow into something nice. My next job is to reseed the rest of my lawn to get the entire lawn back to looking lush.

I used to have the black thumb in the family
Central Florida here. I’m a super beginner when it comes to anything in my backyard. I bought a 7lb. bag and sprinkled it over half of my yard. The seeds started to sprout in just under a week, and boy are those baby blades cute! It’s patchy, and not consistent yet, but I’d already decided that it would take at least two seedings to get the kind of lawn that I’m looking for. I’m also not disappointed at the patchiness as I put minimal effort into caring for the seeds - never put down new soil or fertilizer, and only watered once a day. Overall, I’m very happy with how much has sprouted. I can’t wait to start on the next bag to see what happens!

So far, so good
I have used Scotts brand of fertilizer for many years, using the different varieties depending on the season. I have a huge problem, due to the mild winter here, with excessive weed growth over the winter. So I use this every winter to not only nourish the grass but to get the crabgrass and other weeds under control for the spring. I use this in the late fall and in early spring and this helps quite a bit with the weeds. You do have to keep an eye out for new spots, but I combine this with hit the new places with weed b gone and this double team helps a lot. I have never had an issue with burning the grass. If you follow the directions and use a spreader to put onto your yard, you will have no issues. Do not over sow the fertilizer or you will burn your lawn. I apply some variety of fertilizer every 3 to 4 months, with the Summerguard version in the summer and this Winterguard in late fall and Spring. Make sure you lightly water your grass immediately before you apply the fertilizer as that helps the fertilizer control the weeds. Also water your lawn thoroughly a couple days later to help the nutrients get into your lawn. This 40 lb. bag covers a large area and I do think it is a bit pricy, but that is most fertilizers these days, but it is comparably priced at around 45-50 bucks at the box stores. 4 stars

Worked very Well for me
I am an old yard nut and was looking for some seed to fill in a few bare spots in my yard. This grass seed germinated faster than any other seeds I have tried. I did water it twice a day and it was showing in a week. After three weeks it has filled in and looks great. So far really good.

Not for sunny spots or high temps
Grew really fast, was doing great, until the heat hit. Despite watering every day, it just got clumpy, like 1/2 of it just disappeared?!? . Waste of money, now I have to re-seed.

You’ll have beautiful green grass no matter the terrain!!
Love love love this seed!!! Researched the hell out of seed. Tried 3 different seeds over the course of 7 months with very lil production. Tried some organic seed that worked a lil but this seed drastically out did its competition! We purchased a house that has about 1500 sq.ft. backyard and hadn’t been watered or cared for in a few yrs so it was ALL dirt! Hard slate dirt! We live realitively high up in the hills of Diamond Bar, in So Cal. So our yard gets direct sun from 6am til about 430pm... Sprinkled seed by hand (we don’t have a cool lil seed distributor and I actually prefer to lay it by hand to control the distribution a lil better) We layed an organic feed/fertilizer over the top of the first bag and needed a second bag of seed. Layed it about a week after the first but didn’t fertilize that batch for fear of killing new growth. We water every evening for about 45 seconds a section (soak but don’t flood) I’ve posted before and after pixs. The after pixs are about 4 weeks after laying bag #1 We’re still gonna lay another bag but we want to weed n feed first and can’t do so until all sprouts have been growing for 3 weeks. Next step is pulling and killing all of the weeds that your gardener inadvertently tends to track seeds of from house to house...but I’ll take it any-day!!! Prob going to do another full layer so our thatch is a lil thicker (I told you I’ve been researching for a min now...thatch is your area above soil but below the green of your grass😏) Good luck and hope this helps!

Doesn’t sprout!! Not one single seed!
I followed directions to every detail. I kept the area moist at all times. I purchased the build up grass in brown/dead spots and after 3 weeks not a single seed sprouted from the entire bag. I used evenly over dead spots, bare spots and green areas and absolutely nothing!! Don’t know if it was a bad batch or seed but I do know that I am out $50 and a lot of extra water 💦 over the course of 3 weeks.
