"This is a modern classic." --Paul A. Samuelson, First American Nobel Prize Winner in Economics "The best book there is about the stock market and all that goes with it." -- The New York Times Book Review "Anyone whose orientation is toward where the action is, where the happenings happen, should buy a copy of The Money Game and read it with due diligence." -- Book World " 'Adam Smith' is a veteran observer and commentator on the events and people of Wall Street.... His thorough knowledge of financial affairs gives his observations a great degree of authenticity. But the joy of reading this book comes from his delightful sense of humor. He is a lively and ingeniously witty writer who never stoops to acerbity. None of the solemn, sacred cows of Wall Street escapes debunking." -- Library Journal Review: It's an essential read - Whilst it might not be a typical investment book, which tend to be 'here's how investing works and how you will make money', which typically disappoint. This book focuses more on the philosophy side of money and investing, with plenty of information you likely won't read anywhere else. It's well written, not difficult to understand, though the references and some words might not be common language these days, a quick Google every now and again helped. It's one of those books where, if you're serious about investing, you really ought to read it. I learnt about this book from Howard Marks referencing it in one of his memos, and I'll likely make an effort to read it every few years. Review: It's Not Really You, Mr Smith? - It's funny. It's dated. It's relevant. It's about you. It's about "They". It's full of stories and anecdotes and the low down on brokers, portfolio managers, analysts, accountants and quants (yes even in the 60s). The only bug bear was the small type.

It's Not Really You, Mr Smith?
It's funny. It's dated. It's relevant. It's about you. It's about "They". It's full of stories and anecdotes and the low down on brokers, portfolio managers, analysts, accountants and quants (yes even in the 60s). The only bug bear was the small type.

Lots of Wisdom in this Book
This book is about Wall Street, with stories about various people in the market. It has lots of humour in it. Lots of wisdom too. Well worth a read if you are interested in the stock market and Wall Street. I found this book thanks to: "The 10 Best Books Ever Written on Investment, by Richard Lambert, former editor of the Financial Times".

Not enjoyable
I did not find this book to be particularly enjoyable. It is marketed as a classic but many other finance/markets books would easily be more preferable.

BUY BUY BUY
This book reminds of Business Adventures by John Brooks. In some ways, the stories in this book are slightly different or offer a savant viewpoint on the irrationality of financial markets. It is very well written and engaging. Thankfully, Amazon had this book in stock and well priced ...

Sconosciuto
L'impaginazione fa schifo

Don’t buy it!
Very poor quality, print too small and dense. Very expensive. The book does not do justice to the content or the author.

Describes different players and trading methods in the market .
A very good book that will be enjoyed by traders in the market . Different categories of trading methods and traders are described . This has been done without taking names . Instead characters are named using attractive pseudonames like the " Gnat of Zurich " , "Charlie " or " The Great Wilfield ." What type of a trader will follow a certain anticipation method , their positions in the market , their reasoning methods , logic have been described. New traders will find this as a guide to what category of thought process, a certain person they are interacting with may be having at the moment. Mature traders will find as to what category they are at the moment and at different times of the past .
