I don’t have anything to report yet on battery life, but the remote uses a simple round battery, so replacing it should be easy when the time comes. As for durability, nothing about this product feels cheap. You can easily take the remote out of the light switch assembly. It even comes with hardware if you wanted to mount the remote, though I opted to use command strips and that worked perfectly. If you live in an older home, have a hard-to-reach switch, or just want the convenience of turning on a light from wherever you are, this little device is a total game changer and works well. There are many wireless outlet controllers available but what distinguishes Zoiinet is the wall plate switch design that can be adhered to a wall or just placed on a table rather than having to keep track of yet another remote control. These look perfectly natural next to household wall switches and the adhesive is secure but won't rip the paint off your wall so perfect for renters. Another great feature is that the wall outlet units are small enough that they don't block the other outlet in a duplex socket. Pairing is a breeze - just press the button on the outlet block after plugging it in and wait for the led to start blinking, then flick the switch and it is paired. Just hold the button longer to clear all pairings. Several sets of these can be used together. We have a switch near the front door, patio door and the garage entry door all controlling the same lights - it would be a nightmare trying to do that with wiring and 3-way switches. It is great to have one on the wall of a bedroom as you enter to turn on a table lamp, and then another by the bedside to turn off the light without having to get out of bed. Battery life is very good - we've had several in daily use for several years now and haven't had to change the batteries. No appreciable delay between flipping the switch and lights going on or off. At times a light may not come on and just pressing the switch longer takes care of it, but that is rare. Pricing feels about right - not inexpensive but not expensive either.

This could make for a great way to remotely turn on shop dust collection on demand as well if mounted near stationary tools. Multiple switches can be paired to one outlet so you could scatter them around the work space and always be near one. Another more obscure use case could be to easily or remotely power cycle equipment that needs to be occasionally reset. Internet router acting up? No more pulling it out, fumbling around to pull the power cord and try and get it plugged back in tight spaces. Just mount the switch near to on the side of the router and simply flip it off then on to reset. I have a wifi camera in on of the kids room as a baby monitor it will glitch out sometimes and need to be power cycled to fix. In the middle of the night while they are sleeping I can't go in and fish around behind bookshelves to unplug the camera. Just keep the remote in your nightstand and if needed use the remote to power cycle the camera from you bed or while sitting on the couch. Endless creative possibilities with this product.
