Professional-Grade Scanner That Competes With the Best (at a Much Better Price)
I’ve used a wide range of diagnostic tools over the years, and I’m genuinely a huge fan of Launch as a brand. The Launch X431 Pro Elite absolutely earns its place among the top-tier OBD2 scanners on the market. In terms of functionality, speed, and coverage, it can hold a candle to Autel’s high-end units at a fraction of the cost. This scanner does almost everything you could realistically need: full system diagnostics, bi-directional controls, active tests, service resets, module access, live data, and guided functions across an enormous range of makes and models. It’s fast, intuitive, and feels very much like a professional shop tool—not a consumer toy. The only reason I even paused when opening the box is that this particular model does not include the wireless Bluetooth dongle. That one detail wasn’t 100% clear to me from the description, so that was a slight disappointment. That said, once you’re actually using the tool, the wired connection is rock-solid and extremely reliable—no dropouts, no lag. Where this scanner truly shines is its breadth of capability. For most manufacturers, it can do nearly everything: diagnostics, adaptations, calibrations, relearns, and more. The only real limitation I’ve run into is very deep coding on Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche platforms, where factory-level tools or specialized software still have the edge. For everything else? This thing is a powerhouse. Pros: ✔️ Elite-level diagnostics and bi-directional control ✔️ Competes directly with Autel at a lower price point ✔️ Fast, stable, professional interface ✔️ Massive vehicle coverage ✔️ Excellent value for serious DIYers and shops If you’re looking for a true professional diagnostic scanner without paying top-of-the-market prices, the Launch X431 Pro Elite is an outstanding choice. Despite the lack of wireless dongle and limited deep VAG coding, it’s still easily a 5-star tool for capability, value, and real-world performance. Highly recommended for anyone serious about diagnostics.

Perfect Entry level diagnostic tool for the not every day mechanic at a reasonable price.
Hey everyone, I've been using the LAUNCH X431 PRO Elite in our small two-bay shop for a while now, working side-by-side with a couple other mechanics. If you're looking for a solid mid-level scan tool that gives you a ton of capability without costing a fortune—this is it. Here's why it's perfect for small shops like ours: Great features at a realistic price You get real pro-level stuff like bi-directional control, full-system diagnostics, electronic parking brake service, transmission relearns, live data logging, switch and actuator testing, WiFi connectivity, and even the option to print customer reports (just add the little WiFi printer). There's a built-in camera for quick VIN scanning and remote tech support when you need it—all without breaking the bank. Super reliable for everyday shop work AutoVIN is fast as hell, live data graphing is smooth, and the active tests cover everything we need: injectors, fuel pumps, wheel speed sensors, door locks, cam/crank sensors, VVT solenoids, charging system, fuel trims, you name it. It logs all the data cleanly and can even reset learned fuel tables when you're done. The VAG guided functions are a huge time-saver on European cars—step-by-step instructions walk you through the tricky stuff like steering angle calibration, brake pad replacement, ABS bleeding, throttle body adaptation, gear relearns, sensor resets, and a bunch more. Built tough for real shops It's got an 8-inch touchscreen that's easy to read, runs on Android with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage so it never feels sluggish, and the whole thing is wrapped in thick rubberized plastic. It can handle drops, grease, and the general chaos of a busy (or clumsy) shop. Plus, you get two full years of free software updates. Add-ons when you're ready to grow Down the road, you can hook up a TPMS programmer, oscilloscope, videoscope, multimeter, sensor box, ADAS calibration tools, battery tester, or even the XPROG3 for advanced key programming—all through the same tablet. Hardware flexibility allowing access to Play Store for downloading your favorite apps or apps that aid in diagnosing automotive needs. Bottom line: this tool handles about 95% of what the $5,000+ Snap-On or dealer scanners do, but at a price that actually makes sense for a small shop. If you're fed up with basic code readers that can't finish the job, but you're not ready to spend crazy money, just get the PRO Elite. It's already paid for itself multiple times here. One quick side note—if you ever hit a weird glitch, there's a built-in error reporting feature. I've used it a couple times and usually get a helpful response pretty quick. Highly recommend it—no BS, just a solid tool that gets the job done.

Nice too, great value, very useful, GUI could use refinement
I have found this tool to be quite useful, the build is solid, but the UI is a bit rough around the edges. For starers - its great for reading beyond ODB-II DTCs and accessing vehicle control modules. Additionally the bidirectional features and dealer level functions make this a great value. The user Interface however, could use some work - specifically with the English language and common PC prompts and confirmations, as sometimes you're not entirely clear what your saying yes to or confirming. Everything is in English, but the programmers definitely do not use English as their primary language. Access via AutoAuth - so you can unlock the secure gateway on vehicles with that equipped - is very handy, as you don't need to buy a SGW Bypass cable (the subscription is less than most of the cables) One other knock on this unit, for dealer options (model features) that can be activated/altered/adjusted - there is zero guide or indication for expected setting values. So while access is available, change the values at your own risk, as there is no correlation to what entering a 1 or 5 or A will result in, when the change is not a binary yes/no or enable/disable. It would be nice to have a resource to the data field variables and what the optional programming values represent in terms of actual results. Lastly, it would be nice to default all values to Imperial vs Metric, as opposed to each screen, every use, all the time - really annoying. ITs compatible with many vehicles, and I've used this on a RAM 3500 to do TCM relearn, and a Buick Verano to relearn TPMS after tire rotation. It also appears I can run a manual regen, but I have not yet performed this procedure yet. I have one more vehicle to test it on (Nissan), but I expect it will work just fine.

They advertise this product is capable of ECU coding when you buy it but you can’t update a small module with this every function is manual procedure that you can even find on the internet not even computerised procedures. I don’t know why they are rubbing people for just fault code scanner which worths only 60$.
