I really like this smooth version. It has a very light embossed texture on both sides, as shown in my photos. It's still smooth though as it doesn't affect the heat transfer. I'm not keen on the cheap high street ribbed hot water bottles because they never feel hot enough on the ribbed part while burning your skin off on the bald edges. These smooth Cassandra ones solve that problem for me. They feel nice and supple right out of the packet. I get good contact with the heat and they stay hot for a decently long time inside my cover. The spout is a little soft and can bend inwards if you fill it carelessly and you can spill hot water down the side but I think that's true of most hot water bottles. Just make sure to 5ake a strong grip when filling. The stopper appears to be more robust than those on my older hot water bottles.UPDATE:I have gone though 8 in about 18 months. To be fair, I use one daily as poor circulation leaves me cold and also used for pain relief. They are good for a couple of months before they go, what I will call, baggy. Thin and wrinkly in a rather worrisome fashion. Then you start finding degraded bits of rubbr when you empty them. They start leaking from the cap quite soon after you start using them so you have to tighten very hard indeed. Then the stopper handle snaps off easily, leaving you unable to get it out at all. 5 of the 8 I had purchased also split after a few months of use. My last one just split this afternoon and is what prompted this revision. I came to buy more and suddenly thought, "what am I doing", especially when I found they've gone from 4.99 last May 2024 to 7.99 this August 2025. Way too much for a hot water bottle with such a limited lifespan. After thorough experience, I'm going to say no more. I shall just buy the 2.99 ribbed ones from the local cheapo shop and put up with the hot edges. I can no longer recommend this product.

These hot water bottles are the best if you want real heat. Both sides of the bottle are smooth, without any texture. Texture in a hot water bottle does not allow the heat of the water to come through at the temperature you fill with.Yes, you have to be careful with this bottle, because it does give out excellent heat.
