Works well in lid

A perfect fit
It was a perfect fit for the water meter box on my property! It’s easy to use and seems durable for something so light weight. At only $10, it’s a must have for an emergency situation where you need to access your main shut-off valve.

Just what I needed
Last year the city put wireless readers on our water meter and installed a locking lid. I discovered this when I had an emergency shutoff situation and couldn't open the lid. I had to have the city's emergency crew come out and open the lid for my while I diid the plumbing repairs. The I found this key on Amazon and ordered one. It is just what I need now for those emergency situations.

not long enough
Typical Chinese made tool. It seems well made enough for what is it. The only problem I have with this particular tool is that the shaft does not extend the "key" far enough into the lack of the meter box. The key would not engage the lock mechanism in order to open the lock. The bottom of the key is ~2 inches below the flare on the shaft. This was too short. It appears that there are different lengths of shafts for the key. You may want to check how far the lock mechanism is below the surface of the box and take that into account when purchasing a key for your meter box.

Not for Ford covers
Does not fit my Ford water meter cover. Won’t fit into the slot at all

You should always have one of these if you have a lockable water meter cover in case you have to shut your water off
