More than you expect.
What an unbelievable camera. So much more than I expected. The image is so clean and no vibration at 100mph. The thing that made me nervous was the way the mount is. It didn't seem strong visually but it will survive skydiving.

I Needed More Than One
The DJI Osmo Action 4 has been a staple of my videography from in the air, on land, and underwater. My main complaint about it is that I only have one. I love how it transitions from land to underwater as is. However, I brought accessories to ensure it doesn’t make direct contact with salt water during ocean adventures. The case has kept the camera dry, without fogging, every time and the water quickly flows away during the transition. The camera provides excellent stability as evidenced in the attached video from inside of a dragster speeding down an uneven drag strip in about 8 seconds at around 170mph. The camera is easy to use and maintain with excellent battery life. It seamlessly connects to my computer via USB-C, but sometimes I use the software to wirelessly transfer files on my phone with excellent speed. Even when not on sale, it’s worth the price. It fits in my backpack with ease, even though I typically keep it on an extension rod for quick access, which brings up this. There’re times when I turn on the camera before recording, but I love the option to simultaneously power on and instantly record with one touch. And kudos to DJI for its thermal management because it has never shut down on me while recording in hot vehicles in the Caribbean heat. When recording drag racing, I may use less than 2 minutes of a recording that exceeds 20 minutes. The DJI software also allows me to trim the clips and either save as a new or replacement file prior to exporting. Awesome product!

Love it! with some adaptations & accessories. Battery cover weak, order a backup right away
Love it! Records well, with some adaptations & accessories. Battery cover weak, order a backup right away PRO: takes direct sunlight heat like a champ!!! Would follow advice to use external battery with cord to lessen the overheating factor in outdoor sun, but otherwise lasts with own internal fully charged battery expected 1-2hrs continual recording. CON: rugged metal shell that comes with doesn't accommodate a basic port depth hollyland lavalier mic while on, so either no shell or an adapter or cord to attach mic. poor design on that casement dimension. CON: nearly first week the battery door broke off an integral tiny plastic latching nib piece during normal opening and closing, and now won't hold closed let alone won't be waterproof. Already ordered new cover, and delayed needed use-time since I can't risk it damaging internal components at all while waiting for shipment. Wish that was made with metal, or a different latch system that is not so vulnerable. Orderd another backup incase happens again. CON: Neewer filters I bought that push onto existing lens work great! BUT don't have any covers made to fit I can find on the interwebs, so after trial & error, found binocular covers/caps fit filters perfectly without slipping! PRO: Sturdy, simple design. easy to understand controls right out of the box, though need to know a little about manual camera settings if you want to customize your shots professionally. Auto mode though allows for bright light & dark light settings.

Triumphing in the Adventure Cam Showdown
In the world of adventure videography, the competition is fierce, especially among top contenders like the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro. However, after extensive testing and comparison, the DJI Osmo Action 4 has emerged as my favorite, surpassing its rivals in key areas that matter most to me: video quality, thermal management, and overall value. When it comes to video quality, the Osmo Action 4 shines brightest. Its footage is crystal clear and rich in color and detail, outperforming the GoPro Hero 12 Black. Whether I'm capturing a sunrise over a mountain peak or the intricate patterns of a rushing river, the Osmo Action 4 delivers superior visual clarity that brings my adventures to life in a way that the GoPro can't match. Thermal performance is another area where the Osmo Action 4 excels. Unlike the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which has struggled with overheating during extended use in my experience, the Osmo Action 4 remains cool under pressure. This reliable thermal management ensures that I can keep recording without interruption, a critical factor when capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments. While the Insta360 Ace Pro is a formidable contender with its innovative features and impressive capabilities, its higher price point makes it less appealing than the DJI Osmo Action 4. For adventurers who, like me, demand top-notch performance without breaking the bank, the Osmo Action 4 presents a more balanced package of quality, durability, and affordability. The dual-screen design of the Osmo Action 4 is a feature that particularly stands out, offering convenience and flexibility that neither the GoPro nor the Insta360 Ace Pro can match. Being able to frame shots from any angle without additional equipment easily is a boon for solo adventurers. In conclusion, while the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro have their strengths, the DJI Osmo Action 4 ultimately provides the best video quality, thermal performance, and value for money. It's a robust, reliable action camera that has become indispensable to my adventure gear, empowering me to capture and share my experiences with unparalleled clarity and ease. TL;DR: After comparing the DJI Osmo Action 4 with the GoPro Hero 12 Black and the Insta360 Ace Pro, the Osmo Action 4 is the superior choice for adventure videography. It offers unmatched video quality and thermal performance without the high price tag of the Ace Pro, making it the go-to camera for capturing high-quality, uninterrupted footage of all my explorations.

“Exceptional Underwater Camera for Scuba Adventures”
I absolutely loved using this underwater camera on my vacation! I used it on multiple scuba dives, and it performed incredibly well. The photo and video quality underwater exceeded my expectations, and I was able to capture some amazing memories. The battery was impressive too—it easily lasted through two 1-hour dives while I was recording video and taking pictures. The only thing I wish it had was a way to zoom while recording underwater. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but being able to zoom would have made it much easier to capture fish and other marine life that were farther away. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this camera and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to capture their underwater adventures.

DJI Osmo Action Camera Review
Overview The DJI Osmo Action offers excellent performance in a compact, rugged design, making it one of the best action cameras available in its class. It's packed with features that appeal to both casual vloggers and more serious outdoor enthusiasts. With crisp 4K video, impressive stabilization, and a front-facing screen, it competes directly with other action cameras Pros Dual screens make it incredibly versatile, especially for vloggers and content creators. Excellent video quality with 4K recording at 60fps. RockSteady stabilization is top-tier for smooth footage. Rugged and waterproof design, perfect for action-packed environments. User-friendly touchscreen interface. Great for adventurers who need a durable and portable camera. Cons Battery life could be better, especially for extended shooting sessions. The audio can be lacking in high-wind or noisy environments. No live-streaming support directly through the camera (this can be done with the DJI app). No 5.3K or 6K options like some competitors (GoPro Hero 10/11, for example). Final Thoughts The DJI Osmo Action is a fantastic action camera for anyone looking for a versatile, high-quality camera that performs well in both casual and adventurous settings. Its dual screens, smooth 4K video, and rock-solid stabilization make it a strong competitor to other brands, like GoPro. For those who enjoy filming fast-paced sports or capturing everyday adventures, this camera delivers impressive performance in a compact, durable package. The addition of the front-facing screen also gives it a unique edge for content creators who need to monitor themselves while recording. While it does have some minor drawbacks, like battery life and wind sensitivity in audio, overall the DJI Osmo Action provides exceptional value, especially for users looking for an action camera that’s simple to use but packed with high-end features.

Great Go Pro Alternative
After years of using GoPros for our motorsports events, we decided to give the Osmo Action 4 a shot and overall, it’s a solid option with some standout features. The user interface is smooth and intuitive, and the DJI Mimo app works really well and super user friendly. One of the best parts is the magnetic quick-release mount. It’s super convenient with no tools needed, and you can snap the camera on or off in seconds. Perfect for fast mounting inside cars. However, video stability hasn’t quite matched our GoPro experience, especially for in-car footage. The video looks a bit shakier than we’d like, though to be fair, we’re still experimenting with settings. It may just need some tweaking to dial it in. What We Like: Clean, easy-to-use interface Excellent app experience Magnetic mount is fast and hassle-free Good build quality What Could Be Better: Stabilization isn’t quite there (for in-car motorsports use) Slight learning curve if you're used to GoPros Overall, a great camera with a lot to offer. If you’re looking for something user-friendly with quick mounting and don’t mind fine-tuning the settings, the Osmo Action 4 is definitely worth trying.

Forget GoPro, been there, done that. DJI - this is the way.
Even though the Osmo Action 5 is out, I chose to purchase this previous release on a sale. I am not disappointed. I had been studying these for some time, and knew this would be a good move. It was. My main use cases are: - live recording for music gigs - creative blogging - web streaming (though I have other cameras for that) Let's be clear - I have owned GoPros like the Hero Session 5 and the Hero 8 for many years. I've gigged with them, used them on vacation, and done some paid projects with them. I always struggled with the poor start up time, extremely poor battery performance, and other user interface issues on both of those GoPro models. Battery life is the main issue - with batteries running down while inside the camera while it's off. Almost every time I try to use the Hero 8, I need to immediately replace to battery, even if the battery was fully charged when I put the unit away. I finally broke down and started using a USB power pack, but that gets clunky and isn't always practical. Another big hassle was the Hero 8 web cam capability, which never worked properly on any OS that I tried, even after numerous firmware updates. Since they are now on Hero 13, there's no point beating that dead horse. I also attempted to cheap out with an AKASO EK7000, knowing it would probably suck. Honestly, it's not a bad camera for capturing squirrel videos on my porch. I love the remote that came with it. But the AKASO is not road-ready for gigs. The construction is cheap, the battery is hard to get to, and the batteries suffer from the same quick drain as the GoPro batteries. Which brings me back to the DJI Action 4. It's freaking is amazing. The immediate reaction in terms of user experience is joy. I took the DJI on a gig right away, and had no problem getting it to perform up to my expectations. Startup time is great. Battery life is amazing. The dual screen (front/back) really changes how you use a camera like this. The touch interface is a much smoother experience than GoPro. The magnetic mount is very nice too, and much less hassle (though I still use the GoPro connector on occasion). It's time to move to magnetic mounts. The *only* downside here is that Osmo still does not allow *clean* HDMI. Or so I hear. I have not tested this yet, but I imagine the web resources are correct on this. I can deal with that for now. I hear that the Action 5 is even better.... if that's true. WOW. You can even see GoPro now copying DJI with their magnetic mounts. GoPro knows they need to improve, or just get out of the way. This is my first DJI purchase, and they knocked it out of the park. Waiting for the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo to go on sale, but I may not bother to wait. I am ready to leave GoPro behind. You should too.

DJI Osmo Action 4 - Totally Worth It!!
I’ve been using the DJI Osmo Action 4 (Standard Combo), and honestly, it’s one of the best action cameras I’ve ever used. The image quality is outstanding—even in low light, it performs far better than expected. Colors are natural, and the stabilization is super smooth, making every shot look professional. The build quality feels premium and rugged, perfect for biking, travel, and outdoor adventures. The dual touchscreens are very responsive and make framing shots really easy. Battery life is solid, and fast charging is a big plus. What impressed me most is how reliable it is in real-world use—no overheating issues, no lag, just consistent performance. Pros: • Excellent video quality (especially low light) • Rock-solid stabilization • Durable and waterproof design • Easy-to-use interface • Great battery backup Cons: • Accessories can be a bit expensive (but worth it) Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a powerful, reliable action camera, the Osmo Action 4 is a perfect choice. Totally worth the investment!
