Most Bluetooth seems to be 4.1 now why is this still 2.1?

Hi John, the main difference between the 2 versions is that 4.1 has a low energy (LE) feature which benefit devices running on lithium batteries to extend operation time. As our Robustus product does not contain a battery, our decision was not to use the more expensive chipset for a non-functional feature and pass on the cost to the customer. Switching off when connected to Bluetooth is a pretty big negative for any speaker, is there any clue as to how frequent that happens?

I've never experienced this before with my speaker, but maybe if it happens again get in touch with the seller.

If I connect via Bluetooth will the speaker stay on indefinitely? I want to use this with my Echo dot & want it permanently on. Please confirm.

Nope i am afraid it will not ..Remain permanently on eventually its gonna turn off n u hv to switch it on again after few hours..

will this work with amazon echo dot. i.e. will it switch on automatically when required?

Hello Mr. C, our Robustus will work with Amazon echo dot via Bluetooth or 3.5mm Aux connection. However it does not switch on automatically, it will have to be on it's standby mode. Hope you would consider our Robustus as the partner of your Amazon echo dot.
