I got one a little larger than my mattress and, though it was a single, one person could put it on. The fabric feels nicer than a plastic cover, but not quite like cotton. Still, you could almost sleep on it, so with a mattress pad and sheets it is very comfortable and doesn't make a lot of crinkling sound. I'm buying another one for the couch pillows.
