This board isn't too small and is ideal for living room games. The pieces are magnetic which helps if the board gets jogged and gives the impression of weight to the pieces, which are nicely shaped and aren't too small for larger hands to play. The board is a slightly metallic effect black/silver which has a nice subtle look to it. It comes with Draughts pieces too, but I probably won't use those and the instructions only cover the basic moves of Chess pieces. Great value for money and arrived in very good time from this seller.

Everything is fine, both the chess pieces and checkers have a magnet inside. The only drawback is that the main surfaces of the checkers have slight traces of flash that scratch the surface of the chessboard, but this is easily fixed by lightly sanding the pieces with fine-grit sandpaper.

Bought for my 5 year old daughter to play chess on when going on a flight. The magnetic pieces are perfect for playing a game out and about and the board clips shut allowing you to throw it in a bag and not worry all the pieces will come loose. It’s a good size for adults as a travel board and perfect for children. She is wanting to take it everywhere with her now, I think the design and magnetic feature really adds a sense of interest for her which is an unexpected bonus. Overall mission accomplished in inspiring the game of chess in the next generation ;)

Great board. Very handy for traveling and looks cute and is as described.

This is a nice set, reasonably well made, but could have more detail in the casting. The board is quite large and isn't that secure when closed with the pieces inside, some sort of clasp is needed to keep the box closed & it would be nice if the pieces came with drawstring bags & not just the throw away ones. The pieces would be better with stronger magnets on them, also there are no magnets on the draft pieces. For the price paid, it comes across as a tad expensive. I bought this set for someone just learning and for that purpose it is fine as a 1st set, luxury it's not. Neither is it really a set for everyday travelling as it is almost full size. Great for taking it say, from one place to another for a game occasionally or just packing everything away tidily. I don't usually give 5* as this means the item reviewed is perfect, so 3* is quite good, it probably would have been a 4 if the price was lower. So all in all, I'm fairly pleased.

Such a compact board and wafer thin. Perfect for long journeys and flights. Possible to close mid game without pieces moving. I would have liked extra pieces for promotions and there does not seem to be the option of purchasing them separately. Minor detail!

I got this imported And this is in one piece. It reduces screen time as I can analyse and I just close it -next day it is in the same position and I can analyse it without needing to set the board.it's quality is outstanding,it has magnetic strength it is value for money product and came faster that expected.

I almost didn't purchase this product, due to many of the negative comments I read here on amazon, regarding the quality of the pieces (which is very important to me). Fortunately, I decided to take a chance and place my order anyway, primarily due to the incredibly low price, and also because I simply loved the look of the Tournament style, Staunton chess pieces that come with this set. (Look closely at some of the other travel sets you'll find online...the pieces just do not look right) I honestly don't know what some of these negative reviewers were expecting for only $11! (at least, that's what I paid) For the quality of the board/pieces that you get, it is an incredible buy! Not to mention the added bonus of getting a highly portable, magnetic travel set! (And one that's not too small either, as many of the other sets I've seen out there are!) Which brings me to the next thing I love about this product: the pieces you get are not only solid & very nice looking, but they are nice-sized too! The main reason for my purchase, was to have a set to take to work with me, and challenge my friends - if the pieces were too small, no one would want to play a serious game with me (or even take me seriously!) Back to the price... $11 people! Again, I don't know what some of these negative reviewers were expecting to get for that price! Think about it; even if you could find something similar to this at some retail outlet (which I was unable to do), believe me, you would pay far more! The quality of both the board and the pieces is outstanding! Very solid looking and feeling. It does not look cheap! Also, the pieces are not "too light" as I've read in some reviews... not at all!! Their weight is proportional, and quite appropriate for their size and portability, and they definitely feel solid in your hand. As I mentioned before, the pieces themselves are Tournament Style (Staunton) in appearance, unlike many of the other travel sets I've seen online. Nice looking pieces like this, are typically what you pay a quite a bit more for. The board is also quite solid, and snaps to a close nicely; fitting all the pieces inside comfortably. I'm going to great lengths here, describing the reality of what you get when your package arrives, in order to help someone out there, who is on the fence just as I was, to avoid missing out on this great chess set! I love chess, and I love nice chess sets. In my lifetime, I have purchased somewhere on the order of 30-40 different chess sets, ranging in size & quality, and this one ranks right up there with my favorites! Please do not be hesitant to order this product based on some of these erroneous and misleading reviews that have been posted. Believe me, you will not be disappointed. The ONLY thing that I would say might improve this product, is if they included 2 extra queens for pawn promotion. But again, since I only paid $11, I would not expect something like that. If I really needed to carry an extra queen in the box, I would simply order another set! At this price, it's worth it! (Let me say it again: It's only $11, people!)

Excelente compra, es de buena calidad, el tablero tiene buena estructura, el compartimiento donde se guardan las piezas es resistente u no se abre con facilidad, asi que no hay riesgo de que se salgan las piezas y se pierdan, las piezas tienen imán y super bien, porque no se mueven de lugar, lo volvería a comprar.
