All you ever need from a security camera
I'm so very impressed with this camera. It's got some brilliant features and yet it's such a great price. It's the easiest thing ive ever set up in my life, once you have chosen your wi fi it pretty much sets itself up. I love the fact that the camera tracks and follows people and when it's dark 2 little spotlights come on so you can see in colour. The quality of the recording is brilliant and the audio is also very good. I have put a 128gb micro sd card in mine which I find is fine for the amount of recordings I get every day although you can have up to 500 gb. There's lots of options to choose from to tailor the camera to your specific needs. I'm so impressed with it I decided to buy another one for the other side of my bungalow, it's like having 2 mini robot security guards the way they move and look around 😁

An excellent security camera.
Now first of all let it be known that I’m an absolute technodinosaur so anything involving Wi Fi, Internet and related issues is a foreign country to me. Having said that, this camera was a doddle to set up. App was easy to navigate and all pairing issues went like clockwork. The camera itself is excellent. Clear video and audio and picks up motion and persons even on low (3) sensitivity. Access to video clips on the app is straightforward. I’m using a 128 Gb card and there seems to be loads of storage and with loop recording the camera just records over earliest recordings. Owing to my total inability to understand smartphone technology and connectivity to the camera I’m left with one irritating issue which does not diminish my review of the camera, merely emphasises my down comings. The phone gives an audible notification of motion detection which is picked up on my Garmin watch. Yes, I completely get the irony of a techno numpty having a smart watch but it alerts my wife if and when I fall off my bike, an increasingly more common event these days. Consequently, as I live on a fairly busy thoroughfare the accursed phone and watch conspire to annoy me by audibly alerting me each time someone walks past, which is the camera’s function, but is somewhat distracting when it does so every couple of minutes. There is undoubtedly a way of switching off notifications, but it is thus far out of my area of competence to find it. Nevertheless, a cracking piece of kit and for the price an excellent buy. Update. After a few months of use I continue to be impressed by this camera. You get used to the notifications and find them useful after a while. The video quality is very good. I must, though, give a resounding thumbs up to Tapo Customer Support. They are second to none in my opinion. I’ve contacted them a couple of times on technical issues and their response has been swift and efficient. Answered my questions with expertise and straightforward advice. Excellent.

Tapo security camera
I haven't really got enough space to explain how good this camera is i will try.I have installed this camera and was simply blown away with its capabilities and the simplicity of setting it up its plug and play via wifi or ether net connection you can employ either option. The camera can also follow the action rotating a full 360 degrees with a tilt feature as well moving on its own if you enable the patrol feature the video quality is also excellent and also exceptional value for money i strongly recommend this camera if you just want to feel a bit more secure.

Good, but be aware of the video resolution limitations.
Working well so far. The video is clear but I wish that I had spent a little more to get 4k video quality which would make a difference if you are trying to identify people or read car number plates. Motion detection, night vision and sound quality on speaker are good. Value for money was good and setup fairly straight forward. My installation required an sds drill with masonary bits to allow an exterior wall fixing.

Buy this one!
I'm impressed! I've bought several PTZ cams - which were all poor qualityt. Tapo is part of TPLink - which has a decent reputation - so I hoped this would be OK? And it is! It's great! The picture quality is good, particularly in low light conditions. The app / UI is OK. Not amazing, but better than most - and neither contains adverts, nor requires you to sign up for spam email. I had a bit of trouble getting it connected to my WiFi. I have a Tenda Mesh Network and had to use their 'smart device' option to connect. Once the first camera was connected, the second one was easy. It claims IP68 Waterproofing - and that looks possible based on the construction. It's mounted in a location subject to driving rain and strong winds so it will get a good test. I'll report back if it fails prematurely. The one feature this has, which seems to be missing from most is to be able to zoom in on a video feed (by pinching). This works well. Combined with the high resolution, this is a very useful feature. I've tried the object recognition and some of the other 'smart' features. They work well - but are of little value to me & my application.

Perfect
I have several Tapo cameras and they all work perfectly through the app. Not a single drop of camera connection. I have bought other brands before and you have lots of adverts on the app and also different apps for different cameras. I bought this TC 40 as I already had another of the TC40 one. Set up is fantastically easy through the Tapo app, no subscription as it records directly to the sd card. Now manage all 4 cameras and doorbell through one app! Bonus...Also works with alexa so just have to say "alexa show drive", or garden etc and it will pop up on the TV if you have a firestick. (If you have the TV on,,obviously).

Good purchase
I already have a camera system for the my house but didn’t have any cameras on our rear garden. Added this one yesterday and first impressions are very good. Camera appears to be good quality and easy instructions for mounting and linking to my IPhone. Pan and tilt etc all work as described and the picture quality is very good. I need to get an SD card so I can record images so can’t comment on that aspect.

Very good camera for the price
Great camera that works perfectly. App is good with some nice features. Install a micro SD card and there is no need for a subscription. The wifi is good and no problem with a signal 30m from the router. The best bits for me is the ability to switch off things that trigger recordings that I don't want, for example cars. Increase sensitivity for people and pets.

Fantastic product and very well priced.
Super fast delivery from Amazon. Item itself very easy to install once you plan for power source location etc. Set up very easy and quality of image, pan, tilt, AI detection and notifications are all high end. Really happy with product overall and the addition of alarm and spotlight are very good. The two way speech is good but in my case I mounted camera up under eaves and when I talk back it is a little low, but the microphone on camera picks everything up perfectly and can be volume controlled. The panoramic view is great and the Patrol mode is also very good. App easy to use but lots of function on it so it does take a little getting used to. That being said its a very good app.No problem recommending this product. My installation took roughly one hour from start to finish with all functionality operational. Its 5 ***** all round from me.

Tapo C520WS - Best outdoor Wifi standalone AI camera for price range
Here are my thoughts on this beautiful product. I will provide both the pros and cons and my conclusion on price to value. Pros I noticed: 1: Decent build quality, easy wall or ceiling mounting, with an easy configurable stable app (compared to competition brands I have) 2: Built-in AI human, pet, and vehicle detection seems very reliable (95%) for me. In 6 months; only 2 false notifications for humans were triggered. 3: You get notified if a human, pet, or vehicle enters the surveillance area; each is individually configurable and sensitivity selectable. (On default itself it works like a charm for me) 4: In my installation scenario, 15 to 20ft human detection works great in the morning and 10 to 15ft at night respectively. 5: Manual pan tilt or scheduled patrol is possible to monitor the entire space it can cover. 6: Light and customizable audio alarm with recorded audio as an alarm to scare intruders. 7: IP66 (but recommended to avoid overexposure). Also, wired installation other than wifi is possible that can be connected to a compatible NVR. 8: The audio recording and talkback option is great and I can share even OTP clearly with delivery agents when not at home. 9: Can save preset locations that can rotate the camera to that specific location with a click. Also when the camera tracks movement it rotates (if tracking is enabled) and returns to the preset surveillance area when no activity is detected in the new area it moved to in 15 seconds or so. 10: Intelligent night mode can trigger a light on the camera and can record video in color too. 11: Masking the camera or covering the camera can trigger an alarm which can be configured with sensitivity. Cons I noticed: 1: Alarm sound is a bit low compared to competition brands (But not very little so it can't be considered a con but a comparison). 2: For the Alarm trigger; only one configurable time period is possible (ie; one-time period a day and NOT multiple periods a day for any day)(ie; if we set the alarm for night 10 to morning 6; we cannot set one more for morning 10 to 12 for the same day) 3: Offsite cloud storage, Rich image notification (notification with image proof) is only with a paid subscription (with no paid subscription; you will lose recording if the device is stolen). Some thoughts: A: I've seen some saying there is a lag or delay in viewing the video in the app; for me, it happened initially and then i upgraded my router to a fast mesh router which solved the issue which points to an issue with wifi connection and not with the device itself. B: I wish the camera had auto patrol when abnormal sound is detected and a Windows/macOS app to use it with the computer. C: Wish there was an option to save recordings to 3rd party FTP space or USB plugged into a compatible router. D: On motion triggered setup with approx 40 motion triggers on average a day my 256GB microSD holds recordings of 180 days/6 months approx before it rewrites old ones. Conclusion: Overall one of the stable and reliable standalone AI cameras for the price it is offered. I've bought Tapo C320WS which has 4MP sensor but when used outdoors (not supposed to be used outdoors but for comparison sake) the image quality is far better in the C520WS. So if you plan to keep a camera outside; go for this C520WS rather than any indoor cameras. I bought this for 5.3k during its launch and now it is available for less here on Amazon. I am adding some pictures of the product and screenshots of video samples from day and night; so that you can figure out the quality that would help you with decision-making. Also if you find this review helpful; pls press the Helpful button that would be a motivation for me to post more such reviews. Also if I decide to make any change in the long run of this product; I will do the same here to help you keep updated on this product.
