Relationship Card Deck by Vertellis - Card Game for Deeper Connection with Your Partner for Couples

I have been looking for a way to change the conversation with my significant other - so that we don't just ask each other the same, "how was your day?" every night... I wanted to find a way to ask new questions that open up the dialogue, because keeping lines of communication open is the most important way that we keep our relationship close and loving. Vertellis was exactly what I was looking for! The questions were open-ended enough that they all applied to our lives... And yet they were written in a way that enabled us to really go into depth in answering. For example, remembering our favorite activities together over the past few months had us laughing as we remembered some of our antics... In fact, as we were answering these questions, we were inspired to add new activities to our summer vacation plans! It was a great way to spend Friday night together: laughing, eating, drinking, and having a REALLY great time with my favorite person in the world. I can't wait to play again in a few months to see how we've grown and changed over time... And I love the fact that we're planning new activities to do together now - so that we'll have even more great answers the next time we play Vertellis! I want to say first of all that I LOVE this company’s mission – to get people to have meaningful and deeper conversations. We really need that in today’s world, and to get away from technology when we are together. It is really what sold me into getting this game as well as their original version. My husband and I have been together for 20 years now and I am surprised to say that we had a great time going through these questions because we never would have thought about them ourselves! There were some questions that made us think twice about our answers, and there were some questions that made us see each other in a different light, and let me tell you that is hard to do after 20 years! Overall, I am glad I bought this game as a Valentine’s present. We didn’t have a chance to go through all the questions, so I look forward to opening it up again.

There are some red flags with this product. 1. It is debatable if this product is a game. The concept, as described by the manual, makes you go through every question for every session. So there are few surprises to be had after the first session. In fact, these cards are closer to the thematic cards used by mental health care professionals than any game I have ever played. 2. The game designer states that Vertellis is Dutch for Storytelling. This is not true. It is however a variation on the Dutch slang 'Vertel es', which loosely translates to 'Do tell'. Somehow Google Translate was convinced of this untruthful translation.

These questions, in a simple format, provided my husband and me stimulating conversations at the end of a meal. We were able to "play" several rounds before giving it our seal of approval and preparing it as a gift for a newlywed couple. We also got the one for families for our friends with children. I know that it will provide them with thoughtful conversation and help redirect recreational time from "screens" to family interactions.

I bought this for my daughter and her husband as a gift. They have a wonderful marriage and actively work on keeping it that way. My daughter informed me one evening that they were looking forward to opening up a bottle of wine and playing the game. I heard from her the next day that the card game was wonderful. It caused them to talk about things they normally wouldn’t talk about if it were not for the questions on the card. They found it extremely valuable. They loved it!

My wife and I have been married for 6 years now and we do have a great relationship. We saw an ad for the game and it sounded like something we would enjoy. Of late we tend to spend our evenings together but on our phones. Last night we put the phones away, poured a glass of wine and played the game. We had a wonderful night and we found out new things about each other. My wife had no idea I wanted to be a Park Ranger :) We talked for hours and we had a wonderful night together offline! Thank you Vertellis for creating such a great game.

We love to bring this out once in a while when we are in a chatty mood. It is so easy to get lost in conversation with some of the prompts. It would make a great Valentines gift or a gift for newlyweds.

My husband and I purchased this as a way to deeply communicate since he's an over the road truck driver. We've been married nearly 5 years and this "game" as allowed us to still learn new things about one another. He took half the deck and I kept the other half.
