Love the idea, but don't want to see it. Can it be hung behind the curtain or does it need to be on the outside?

I installed 2 on my office window as it has multiple curtains with a support in the middle and I have both behind the curtains. Unless your curtains are transparent, you don't see anything. Works great.

Would this work on an RV front window drapes? And does it also close the drapes, not just open?

As long as the rod is the right size, it should, and it can move the drapes to any point, open, closed, or anywhere in between
