BlackBerry 9700 Charging Pod

Tiny and uncomplicated this cradle takes up very little space and looks like a quality piece of kit. Colour is a tasteful gunmetal grey and there is a Blackberry logo on the rear just above the micro usb socket. Inside is smooth jet black and underside is rubberised to prevent slip. Just use a standard usb charger cable or your phone charger cable to start charging. The 9700 sits snuggly in the craddle with little movement. The pins on the bottom right and left sides of your phone rest against the contacts in the charger base. Once the phone is in the craddle a subtle bluish light switches on to confirm its charging. As with a normal charger the phone enters bedside mode when in the craddle. This makes it a great bedside clock when you change bedside settings in your phone software to dim the LED and turn the cell radio off.In summary a well made and stylish device which makes charging much easier than using the phones micro usb port. Couple that with the attractive bedside or desk clock and you have a great little gadget that looks far more expensive than its actual cost.

I'd been looking around at a few different options for Blackberry docks and i have to say this one is great.I thought it would be made of plastic but to my surprise it has a chrome metal construction with a sturdy rubber non slip base and is a genuine blackberry accessory.I use it to put my Blackberry in at night on the bedside table and it makes it very easy to see the screen and charge my device at the same time as i often use my Blackberry as an alarm clock.You literally take it out the box, plug your existing charger than came with the phone in the back, and job done. It even has a little LED indicator to show you the power is on....what more could you need....Love it :) Blackberry 9700 Charging Pod

It is genuinely ok. it is a great place to stand your phone on your desk, however it doesn't always connect the phone to the chasrger

I liked this so much on my desk that I bought another two, for my bedside table and for my ever-ready overnight bag kit. It holds my BB Bold at a perfect angle for viewing on my desk whilst quietly charging it. It looks smart and is pleasing to the eye. The only think I don't personally like is the LED on the back. This emits a glow behind the BB which I don't like at night -I like total darkness. If you like to be able to see where the BB is, or to have a little light at night, then it's perfect. I dealt with the light with a small piece of black PVC insulating tape -now no glow.This is a nice accessory.

I absolutely love this thing!I can no longer charge my phone via the charging lead, as unfortunately the metal charger piece come out when i pulled the charger out one day!So i decided to buy this as an alternative.This little pod saved my blackberry! Its nice and small, and i have absolutely nothing negative to say about it - it does its job! Its good value too!I definitely reccommend it to all blackberry users, it could prevent what happened to my blackberry happening to yours :)It came within 2 days of ordering it too :)

This simply gets connected to your existing charger cable and you slot the phone in for charging. It's very small and neat and allows you to use the phone as a clock, which automatically comes on when the phone is inserted. You can then use the menu button to dim the keypad to make it less obtrusive in the dark.It seems to be a genuine Blackberry accessory from the instructions, but it's not shown on the Blackberry website, so who knows. It doesn't really matter, as it's cheap and very useful. Thumbs up.One thing to be aware of is that you can't use this with the Otterbox protective phone cover, or probably any other cheap skin, as the connectors in the bottom corners will be covered by the case. I didn't realise that when I bought the two together, which means that the two phones I have with cases can't actually use this unless you go to the bother of taking the case off. However, my wife's phone doesn't have a case and she uses this charger all the time, even on trips.Update 13/10/10 - we've stopped using this now, because my wife's phone (the only one using it) started to freeze with only the red light on. It was very difficult to restart and we reckon it was something to do with the charger draining the phone and knackering it, maybe depending on how it was sitting and connected. The phone's fine now we don't use the charger.

I recently purchased this product after seeing it on frequently purchased together. I can understand why! This item is great, it provides the function it's meant to very well. Although it does not come with a power lead this is understandable because you simply use the charger that came with the phone! I thought that the phone would clip in and out then becoming a pain but the phone slides in to the dock very easily without scratching the phone and when you need to use the device it comes straight out. You don't have to touch the dock or anything because it is weighted just right. It also comes with a little light on the top of the dock which is very very dim but bright enough to allow you to dock the phone in the pitch black. The charging time for the phone is the same as if you use the wire directly in. I decided to purchase this as I was getting through many charges official and generic. They just stopped working unless I held the charger in a certain place and it was costing me a fortune! This product solved it all for under £5. The papers which come with the product seem to make the product seem genuine, you may be put off by the small size of the product and thinking is it worth it? At first I thought that until I started using it, I don't know why I went so long without one!I have recommended these to all of my friends and family!Thanks for reading my review!
