Sukoyaka Brown Rice, Genmai, 4.4-Pound

This is a great product. It is well worth the price. It is always fresh and package reseals well. It cooks well on the stove top and also cooks well using a rice cooker on the brown rice setting. I sometimes cook it in the rice cooker with chicken broth, variety of frozen mixed vegetables and or chopped chicken. It makes a delicious meal or side. If you have never tried brown rice before you should try Sukoyaka Genmai brand. Nutritious and tasty.

We love this rice. When we lived in Hawaii a lady at my husband‘s work who is Japanese recommended this rice to us. That was 12 years ago and we’re still using the rice today. Pop it in the rice maker and you have yummy tasting rice for leftovers.

You can find this in any Japanese market chain like Tokyo Cental Market or Mitsuwa. Just use you map app and you should be surprised by how many markets near yo u find if you live, for example, in a metro area on the west coast. If you have not already, go to such a market or an H mart or 99 Ranch Market with friends or kids and get a small amusement park type "bump." Kids will go crazy in the snack and candy areas. Health freaks will discover a real produce section not to mention seafood (every type of octopus or squid u can umagine unles u an ethnic East Asian or Portuguese !😅🤪 Rice....got carried away there... Sukiyoshi is mor polished than brown which was even hard to find in Japan 20 years ago. Less polished than white. Healthier, tastier to some and faster cooking depending on you cookin method This brand is my fav. I buy SHIRAKIKU Brown Rice Genmai regularly, and it’s usually very good quality. Unfortunately, this batch was not great. The grains were smaller than expected, and when cooked, the rice turned out very sticky—even after thoroughly washing it beforehand. This isn’t what I’m used to with this brand, so it was a bit disappointing. I’m hoping it was just a one-time issue, because I’ve had much better experiences in the past.

I've lost count of the number of times I've been told that white rice is not good for you. Well, I'm not the biggest fan of brown rice so despite everyone's warnings, I continued to eat white rice. Then I was introduced to Sukoyaka Genmai Brown Rice. This is the first brown rice I have tried that even comes close to imitating the texture of white rice. I've tried several brown rice brands with mixed results. Brown rice is to me, also harder to cook with consistency. Either it's way too soft or its still chewy and hard. And putting in a little more water was not always the solution - it depended on the brand you were cooking. Sukoyaka Genmai Brown Rice is just like white rice in terms of cooking it. If you have a rice cooker, then just go with the measurements in the rice cooker and/or your trusty rice cup and you are golden. It hasn't failed me yet. The rice also has more of a sticky white rice texture versus the brown rice nonsticky texture which is awesome. I now cook this rice exclusively instead of white rice and we have been more than happy with the switch. And hopefully little healthier. I know that this rice is expensive in comparison, but I do feel that it is worth the extra money. And if you buy the size, it's the perfect starter size to try to see if this will work for you as well. I don't think that you will be disappointed in it. It's the perfect combo of the white rice qualities we love and the brown rice benefits that we need. Go buy it!

Most retail brands of brown rice taste stale from being on the shelf way too long. Sukoyaka Brown Rice, Genmai is fragrant and delicious. I eat about a cup of rice every day whether it's plain, served with salmon and steamed vegetables, in a salad, hot pot, or as fried rice. This brown rice lends itself to a variety of recipes. As stated previously, it's delicious on it's own or with Ponzu sauce, soy sauce, or butter. This is a 10/10 for me. I will be ordering this again.

Good for the money.

I have been using this brand for years. It is the best brown rice ever. It is moist full bodied and cooks up nicely. I absolutely recommend this brand.
