Q: How wide are these handles? Are they wide enough to have two hands on simultaneously? Or only one?

One hand comfortably on actual handle portion; however, there are nylon straps on either side of handles, between the 3 handles, that one could possibly use for pulling one's self up, grasping one hand on each side. I hope this helps!

Q: Will it work with an adjustable bed?

The bed needs a tie-in at the foot of the bed or as part of the bed frame. Our adjustable bed has both a tie-in bar at its foot and a fixed bed frame below it. Works well although the device can get lost in the bed clothes if the sleeper tosses a lot. I don't know that that's much of a problem but it can be annoying.

Q: Could this be somehow attached around a ceiling strut so that one could pull himself up to a standing position by successive handholds?

My Dad uses his each night where it's attached to the bottom foot rail of bed to pull himself up from a laying position. At least I can say it's quite durable & very useful for that purpose. As long as it's a secured ceiling type anchor, it may work, but I can't say 100%. You may want to contact the manufacturer to be sure before ordering. Good luck.

I don't know if you were satisfied with the answer already given, but I have a suggestion--I'm assuming the platform is wood or a wood composite? If so, I would suggest attaching a standard u-shaped handle like you would find on a cabinet. Just a cheap one, or even a metal cleat. That would give you a solid foundation for attaching your BedCaddie. You do want a strong solid connection, because when you are using this to pull yourself up, you may be applying a great deal of tension on the attachment. I have no doubt that the strap will hold up just fine, but for safety you also want to make sure that your attachment is very secure.
