A fun novelty
This product comes with everything you need to make and season a lot of halloumi-style cheese, which I haven't had much of previously. I was surprised it could be made in just a few hours. The catch is that you need unhomogenised milk (gold cap) which isn't common. The booklet that comes with this product has instructions for making the cheese and beer-battering it, and also for making ale-washed "squeaky curds". You don't have to use beer to make the basic cheese, though, and I would tend not to. The whole booklet is well-written and detailed. This is an interesting activity, but since it makes 12 batches of about 600g of halloumi, you definitely need to like the cheese to make full use of it. On the other hand, though, you can have plenty of practice runs.

Great gift idea
This cheesemaking set is well presented and would make a nice gift. You can make halloumi-style cheese or ‘squeaky’ cheese within a few hours. This is a very basic type of cheese which does not have to be matured. As well as the flavouring, the kit includes vegetarian rennet (expensive stuff), a thermometer, a cheese cloth and good clear instructions. You need to supply 4 litres of gold top milk for each batch (makes 600g of cheese) and there is enough rennet here for 12 batches. The rennet comes in the form of a little pill which you have to quarter; the rest can be frozen until needed. The whole process requires some care over the temperatures but reassuringly the instructions say that if your efforts appear to be going wrong, not to worry it should come right in the end. There are also instructions for making a beer-based batter in which to deep fry the cheese. I will have to skip this as I don’t do deep frying - maybe you could do this in an air fryer? It does look very tasty. Alternatively, you can soak it in beer as part of the cheesemaking process and impart the flavour that way.

A fantastic gift for a foodie
This is a fabulous cheese making kit that contains the ingredients (excluding milk) to make 12 batches of Cypriot style cheese. The milk is a little tricky to find as it needs to be gold topped unhomogenised milk and you need 4 litres for each batch of cheese. Full instructions are given and they’re clear and easy to follow. It’s a great gift for a foodie or a couple who are difficult to buy for.

Such a cool gift idea
This is such an interesting gift idea. You get pretty much everything you would need to make the cheese, bar some milk. The instructions and actual steps are easy to follow to make 2 different types of cheese, but I think it may be one of those gifts that could be a slippery slope to wanting to learn how to make more!

Nice kit but complicated
It's a nice kit with most of the stuff you need though you'll also need to buy gold-topped milk. The instructions are detailed but quite long-winded. Obviously this is just how cheese is made so it's hard to fault the kit itself but just something to be aware of. It's not a five minute job... this is a fairly complicated task for a rainy day! Expect to spend a lot of time standing around with a thermometer in your hand.

Great gift idea
I will be gifting this to my dad as he loves his beer AND cheese! A very unique gift idea as it combines the two and includes easy to follow instructions. I always like gifts like this where the can enjoy a delicious treat but also make it themselves as it means more!
