According to their website, they are manufactured in Utah.

They do float, but I think you meant to ask will they keep glasses afloat. The answer is maybe. 15 g is light in the spectacle world. None of my many glasses weigh that little and these straps hardly slow them down sinking to the bottom. The real answer: test before trust. If you have a scale capable of weighing in grams or 0.1 g, see what your glasses weigh. If not, hook 'em up and test in a bucket before heading out on the water. You'll probably find that if they keep your glasses on the surface at all, it'll be just barely, so they'll be difficult to find anywhere other than in a crystalline pool.

They worked great and survived a Spartan race, so they should hold up for kids. My frames are thin at the sides and had no problem holding

What is the length of the retainer unstretched from end to end?

I bought the purple one and it is 15.5 inches long unstretched.
