Royal Canin Digest Sensitive Thin Slices in Gravy Wet Cat Food, 3 oz can

For several years I have tried different products for two picky eaters. Friskies, Blue Buffalo, Nutrish, Wellness, Nature's Variety, Science Diet, etc. I have tried almost all products commonly on the market. Some brands they won't touch, they will eat others for a day or two and then refuse them, or take one bite and walk away. When they do eat a can, they usually barf it up within an hour or two. It's not like they are fancy breed cats with delicate constitutions, both are short hair rescued alley cats. They've been repeatedly to the vet and two different veterinarians found nothing wrong with them. I tried feeding them only once a day and taking away dinner if they had not eaten it. The cats were on a hunger strike for six days, so I gave in and searched for yet another brand that I had not tried. Royal Canin was one of the few brands that I had not tried yet so when someone recommended their Digest Sensitive brand, I brought a few cans home. They each ate a can of this for dinner and, unlike usual, finished it all. Then they did it the next night. And the next night. It's been a month of Royal Canin. They no longer barf up dinner, and when it is dinner time, they beg for the stuff. However, they will only eat the sliced version. This also comes in a "loaf" version, which is really only RC's marketing term for the standard pate. The cats despise pate and won't even eat the Royal Canin version. Yes, this IS expensive, but as other customers pointed out, it's worth it. I don't have to throw out uneaten cat food and I'm no longer risking breaking my neck slipping in cat barf. And, if you think the Amazon price is expensive, try buying it at a local pet store. I have looked around for a cheaper price and locally, it runs 20 to 40% more. Since I now know the cats will eat it, I plan to go ahead and subscribe for a discount. Update: After four weeks my finicky felines grew bored with this and quit eating it. Based on the advice of another reviewer, I just switched to something else for two days, and now they will eat it again. If you lay in a long term supply of this, keep a few cans of other brands/flavors to switch out now and then.

Very good food food for cats

Was disappointed at first to realize I'd ordered "thin slices in gravy" instead of the pate I thought I would get, because if it's not finely ground my picky older cat just licks the gravy off the pieces and leaves the rest. Figured it was my fault for not checking more carefully when I ordered it, so I opened a can. Younger cat responded immediately (jumped up on counter). Gave a small spoonful in a bowl to the older cat. She ate it all. Gave her a second spoonful. She ate that too. Gave her a third spoonful, ate it up, and I figure the only reason she didn't eat the whole can is 'cause she was forced to share it with the younger cat. It's a first. (Younger cat loves it too.) **** 2 month followup. First a note: "thin slices in gravy" is actually little cubes in gravy. I've seen thin sliced cat food, and this is not it, but cats still love it. Meanwhile ... I got sucked into the health craze, and switched over to a grain-free all natural chicken pate canned food that had excellent reviews on Amazon. 24 cans of the stuff and neither cat likes it much. The older cat mostly noses it out of the bowl and leaves it on the floor and waits for her dry food. Went back to this Royal Canin variety, and both cats are HAPPY again. I'm just giving up on the so-called healthy cat foods (how healthy is it, if the cats won't eat it). My two GO-TO cat foods are now the Royal Canin canned foods, and Purina Naturals dry cat food. They love them both. They don't throw up with either of them. They have nice thick fur and enough energy to play. That's as good as it gets at my house.

Very expensive but so worth it. Kitty has always had a very touchy stomach, but he just started throwing up EVERY single day with no physical explanation. I knew I had to make a change so I went to Petco and bought a can of every sensitive brand and limited ingredient food there was. We went through this a can at a time. Drove me NUTS! We would try a new can every morning. Same thing, he'd sniff it and walk away. I was like, "Really? Are you serious Dude? Organic, wild caught salmon and you won't even try it?" I was about to put some on a cracker and try it myself. I mean how bad could this be? He absolutely would not eat some of it, let some of it sit in the bowl overnight and ate out of desperation and loves this one. Seriously I was at the end of my rope. Can you imagine having a belly ache every day so bad that you throw up? My poor baby. If this didn't work he was going to go on prescription food. With this food he has been "puke free" for three weeks. I'm so relieved. I use this with the gulp free bowl available on Amazon so it slows his eating down. I think that both things in combination have made him turn the corner. After all the research, this really is the cheapest place to buy it. It's a $1.50 a can in the pet stores. Amazon comes out about $1.38 with Prime shipping. So glad this is over. UPDATE: December 22, 2015 so on it about 5 months. He still loves it and only sIx puke episodes in 5 months! He was puking every single day. So happy. I really hope this food helps someone else.
