There just so many different saws I don't know which would be best.** A: You could but it would take ages because the sappy wood would keep clogging the blade. You really want a pruning saw with very coarse teeth. Or for more usefulness a handsaw with fewer teeth per inch **Q: Does this come with a sleeve or cover?** A: The saw does have a cover for the teeth of the saw but not a complete cover.
