Despite cooking curries (with varying success) for decades I hadn't heard of this until I got a copy of Mrs Balbur Singh's book out of the library (sadly it's no longer in print). She uses this a lot and it gives more flavour and colour than the usual supermarket chilli powders. It's not dynamite hot so you can add it gradually to your first recipe and get the hang of how much you need. Good quality and a good price

If you’re a fan of Indian cooking, this is an absolute must-have for your spice cupboard!

Nice flavour and helps give your curries a nice red colour

This provides a way to make a good curry in a short time, with very little other seasoning. It may not be as tasty as a curry made 'from first principles' but it makes for much less work.

I bought this to make Dishoom's Ruby Chicken. Which turned out brilliantly. Wonderful flavours and deep red colour. Recommended

Made a curry using this and I was very happy with the results. Definitely not like ordinary chilli powder. Spicy without being too hot. Used it in the marinade and in the sauce and just the right amount of heat with a total of 3 teaspoons in a meal for 4 people.
