Expensive, but essential for dot & dab plasterboard walls
These are expensive compared to standard fixings, but for dot and dab plasterboard walls theyโre an absolute must-have. Iโve used Corefix fixings to hang radiators, TV brackets, and basins on plasterboard walls fixed over blockwork, including Thermalite blockwork, and Iโve not had a single failure or issue. Installation is straightforward: drill the hole, insert the nylon plug as normal, then slide in the steel sleeve. The steel insert is the key part โ it prevents the fixing from pulling too far into the blockwork and crushing the plasterboard, which is exactly where standard fixings often fail. Pros: Extremely secure fixing for dot & dab walls. Ideal for heavy loads. Well thought-out design that actually solves the problem. Confidence-inspiring once installed Cons: More expensive than basic fixings. That said, considering what theyโre designed to hold and the damage a failure could cause, the price is easily justified. I wouldnโt use anything else for heavy items on plasterboard-backed walls. Five stars.

Expensive - but worth every penny!
I used the to fix not only kitchen units but also large column radiators to dot and dab plasterboard walls. The idea is simple - use a metal insert to take the load rather than the plasterboard - and it works really well. My plumber initially had problems with the radiators as the weight of them was driving the support brackets into the plasterboard and the void behind. These provided a solid fixing - and he was so impressed he bought several boxes himself for future jobs. My radiators are solid and the kitchen units have not fallen down - result!

Secure and tough on a dot and dab wall
I used these to hold up a fairly hefty mirror on a dot and dab wall. I was concerned a conventional fitting would fail on this type of wall. They were simple to use and the metal core which fits inside the rawl plug bridges the gap between the wall and plaster board, providing added strength. I wouldnโt use anything else now.
